What is involved in removing the factory part so that these can replace it?

You simply drop the splash guard under the bumper down. You can reach it that way.

These are cool, however I think the install is a little more complex than just dropping the splash guard. Tough to reach the access bolts.

Hi There,
I just did this install combined with a black wing. Requires a lot more.If you have large hands you can't go in through the front air duct to remove the one 10 mm bolt. 3 10 mm bolts hold each housing.You need to access though the lower panels on both sides. Not a problem just time consuming.

I have em and love em! They are unobtrusive and really complement the looks of the C5 as well as allowing nice cool air directly to my dual cone intake. Installed 4 yrs ago.

A bit of a pain to install, done in 30 minutes and well worth the effort IMHO.
