Default what 1/4 mile time to expect tomorrow?

finally after owning my c5 for almost 3 months now some people from work invite me to the track tomorrow! i have an 01 6speed with only a catback thats it and just wondering what should i expect tomorrow. i know my car has high 12 second potential but im in indiana it supposed to be around 50 mid day so the weather is perfect. i would be so happy if i got away with a 12.9

Depends on driver, tire and track conditions. Assuming street tires, i'm with Jno, low 13s.

I agree. It really depends on the driver.

Your question really seems to be "just wondering what should i expect tomorrow". Just expect to have a good time and enjoy the comradery that goes along with a bunch of Corvette Buddies having a great time at the track.

Good luck on your goal. Another thing I can add is that, it is contagious. I started out back in 2003 with a stock 1999 C5 at around 13.4. You eventually get down to better times on your own, but then the "power mod" sickness sets in. A year later, I was down to 12.4. Then I really got sick and now run 11.8. Doc says it's terminal and there's no hope for me now.

With a 2.0 60' and good shifting (about 5600) you can easily turn in a 12.9. Tough thing about C5 MN6's is you must shift to 4th and that shift ends up being just before the traps.

If you are on stock tires and don't miss a shift: 13.3 - 13.8! I'll lock in at 13.6 on stock tires, 13.4 on good street tires.

Most important. Don't forget to turn off traction control or at least set it to competition mode. Concentrate on your shifts and don't hit the rev limiter. If running on runflats don't launch at to high of an rpm, maybe 1,500 - 2,000.

Most importantly have fun and let us know how you did

okay so heres how the day went: i was one of the first people to get to the track it opened at noon and i was there right at noon. after an hour trip there there was no cool down time i went straight for the staging lanes nervous as hell cause its been about 6 years since ive been to the track i roll through the wet box do a slight burnout and stage. i rev to about 3grand and slip the clutch but the track was prepped so good it bit hard and bogged down but off i went and i was so out of it i hit the rev limiter before i got it into second then to top it off i did it again going into 3rd (WTF) then came 4th and i didnt even want to look at my timeslip cause i knew i was going to be disgusted! 14.20 @ 101.54 with a 2.41 60ft

i was like no way in hell is my car a 14 second car so back at it again no rest no cool down slight burnout stage and this time i get a little more aggressive on the launch. launch was decent but i murdered the tires on the 1-2 powershift i feathered the gas quickly to get traction and got away with a 13.55 @ 109.20 with a 2.22 60 ft

i then let the car cool down for about an hour and then i was back at it this time in the left lane hoping i wouldnt murder the tires on the 1-2 shift. so i burnout stage and we are off i rip second and the *** stays planted then came 3rd so far so good then when i slam 4th i dont know if the clutch slipped or what it was it felt like it didnt grab right away and i stopped the clocks with a 13.00 @ 111.15 with a 2.15 60 ft!

okay one more run this time im going home with a 12 second timeslip! i launch the car sameway 2nd gear comes good then 3rd then 4th im like yes this is it i did it this run felt better than the 13.00 run WRONG
13.25 @ 109.71 with a 2.15 60 ft

oh well i had alot of fun these are the last days i get to enjoy my car before i store it for winter and im sure you can guess what my next mods are gonna be.......... yep you guessed it drag radials and a CAI.
NOTE: all these runs were with the stock air box and paper airfilter which is kind of dirty who knows maybe if i wouldve dropped a kn in i wouldve hit 12's but im happy i got my car home in one piece and nothing broke

Congrats anyway!! Nothing wrong with a very respectable 13 flat for the first time in 6 years, and in a "new" car to you.

Just as long as you had fun!!! THAT'S WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT!!!!

Not a good idea to drive thru the water and then do your burn out. You get the rear tires too wet and when you start the burnout it slings water up inside the rear fenders, Then as you are staging it is dripping on the tires.

Next time, drive around the water box and back up just enough to get the tries on wet pavement, then do your burnout. You should see your et drop.

Get that 60' down to 2.0 and shift like you did on your 13.0 pass and your 12.9 (maybe even 12.85) time slip will be waiting for you at the top end.
