Default Exhaust Comparo Opinions

One mod I would like to do is cat-back exhaust but with all the choices I'd like to know if anyone has tried the WCC Dominator GT Street (by Bassani) - good fitment?

Exhaust sound is a very personal thing in my opinion. It's even harder to put a finger on with the LSx engines - because they don't sound like that old school V8 rumble that I grew up with. (don't get me wrong, I love the LSx exhaust note, but it's very different) For me, based on what I've heard through countless sound clips my feelings are:

Corsa = slightly raspy (but probably my second favorite - great tips!)
Billy Boat = too raspy and an odd tone
Borla / Flowmaster = too much low frequency (anyone agree?)

Also, funny thing is I actually "Like" that burble you get on deceleration with the H-pipe....so no X-pipe for me.

Let me know if you've tried the Bassani or the Dominator GT Street - they seem great but dropping $1100 to find out is a commitment I want to be sure of!

I have the dual Borla Stingers. I like the old school exhaust look of the duals.
They sound like a motor boat at idle. They remind me of being on a party boat. You folks in the NE know what I mean.
They drone around 1700rpm and do carry alot of low frequency but boy do they sound great at close to or at WOT!!!
Hope this helps.

Yeah, once I heard a guy leave an intersection in a C5 with the dual Borlas - definitely made some go-fast noises! Probably more than I'm looking for, hence the street versions of the Bassani or the Corsa Touring that I'm looking at. I've known a few guys who went for more sound than they bargained for and ended up swapping their extremes back to stock.

I am a Corsa Pace Car guy. I've had them on both C5's that I've had. I think they are the perfect exhaust for a C5.

I like my Nxt Step cat-back system. Nice tips, got a nice burble (I like that too) no drone but has a nice note inside too.

Not the best representation here but okay. Rest of the system is bone stock: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Umfwp3oG82A

I've had both the B&B Route 66 and the Corsa Indy exhausts. Both were very good and I would recommend both. The B&Bs will be quieter and have more resonance/popping than the Corsas though.

I was going to get Corsa Touring, but the Corsa rep strongly suggested the Pace Car. I'm glad he did, I love the way the Pace cars sound.

I have the Bassani's! they look and sounds great, a little on the loud side for some on here, i like the way the tail pipes are big round ones with the cone in there, it's not the usual cookie cutter pipes most of these companies have you can't go wrong with Bassani's!.

anybody in this crowd care for the SLP loudmouth. for me, it's been between them & BB bullets.

obviously, i want to be heard coming before they see me. any advice on these two or similar recommendations? i'm gonna be doing a TVS2300 & 1.75" longtubes & x-pipe down the road, but i figured i'd get a good axle-back while i'm waiting

Yeah kinda seems like it but you can never really tell from youtube videos which is why I asked.

I mean my Camaro sounded great but when I tried to make a video and put it on youtube it sounded like ***.

haha. case-in-point: most people put the camera way too close to the pipes. a good position is at about 45* off-axis (at a diagonal) and about 5-10ft out depending on how loud it is. the louder, the farther. that way you don't distort the microphone & get that horrible scratchy sound in the video.

I have a full exhaust, and my catback is the Ti. I do a lot of highway, so droning isn't an option for me. Still sounds awesome at wot / High rpm.
