First time at the track.
I went to the Englishtown, NJ drag stripto the test and tune session for a little fun yesterday with some friends. They all have tracked their cars before but this was my first time. I wasn't expecting to do too much except have some fun, no record breakers. I have a 99 frc all stock except a catback. first time with a crappy launch I ran a 13.761 at 107.38 mph. I went up for my second run hours later, (the rotation took forever), heated my tires and staged. I got my rpm's up this time around 3 grand, and let out the clutch on green. The car didn't move an inch. Flat bed home and 200 bucks later I have some work to do. I am not sure if it is the clutch or spyder gears or what. I guess I won't know until I get in there and see whats going on. Obviously I wish it didn't break but I am kind of glad to fix and upgrade the weakest link. I don't think it should have broke being all stock. I wasn't asking the car to do more than what it was designed for. Inputs appreciated. Thanks guys.

Just my opinion but the strip is much harder on the car than the track. Bet that run wasn't the reason. Stock but also meant for normal driving. How many miles and ?????? also first time getting on the metal and spinning the rears.

Must have been a problem to begin with. I have a 2000 FRC,,bought it with 55,500 on it!! Have had it to the track several times,,no problems 2000-2500 launches,,dozens of launches!! Now did you pop the clutch,,or just lift fast??Makes a difference on how hard it is on the drive train. I do a "quick lift off the pedal rather than side step. Still managed low 13's,,best of 13.08,,,still going strong with 78K on it now!!

I did a quick lift off. Nothing drastic. I am hoping for it to only be a slave cylinder or clutch but who knows. I get no grinding in any gear, it just doesnt move when you let the clutch out. It feels like it could want to but it is just slipping too bad to move.

Something that abrupt,,,I'm thinking something in the rear end!! Unless you exploded the clutch,, there would be some effort to grab and move. If you blew the clutch that bad,,there would have been parts flying. A quick lift at that RPM wouldn't destroy the clutch that bad that fast. This is just my opinion,,diagnostic accuracy is not guaranteed!! Good luck!!

I had my slave cylinder (and throwout bearing? I don't remember) go out on me...not racing or anything though. Just outta the blue. The car has been to the track/driven hard no problems otherwise. My guess is you might have a similar problem to what I had. Basically, when it broke and before I got it fixed, I could push the pedal in and out, but the clutch was basically stuck "engaged" with a hair of hydraulic pressure. I basically had to "limp" it over to the shop

Output shaft is one of the weak links in the C5. If this is the case just an FYI they do make an upgraded stronger one to replace with.
Good luck with the fix

output shafts in the differential are a weak link... left and right side....

Does the speedometer move when you let out on the clutch? Sounds like it could be a main shaft or differential shaft. Does it make any noise at all when you try to move it?

im a little new to c5's but i think a friend of mine put c6 output shafts in his c5 when he did a rear gear change cause he said they are stronger? is this true?
