Windshield polishing ?
Has anyone had any luck using the various glass polishing kits out there to remove wiper streaks and light scratches from their windshields?
Is so, what products did you use and any tips ?

Can't help you as I've never had any success with other vehicles in polishing scratches out. May want to post over in the Car Care Forum. Those guys are experts in all of these kind of things. Also, try sending a PM to KillerWheels at Autogeek. Great auto care products.....he may have something. Good luck

I'll have to give the Z-12 a try on my next order....
I have the damndest time trying to clean the glass.....never experienced glass so hard to get clean before the C5 - right now I'm using the stoners aerosol and microfibre cloths...its better, but can never get them "crystal" clear

I USE ADAMS CLASS CLEANER AND I USE THE ABSORBER WET WORKS GREAT

What I am trying to remove is wiper marks and scratches......not water spots and road crud. I doubt these products will do what I need.

Eastwood Glass Polishing Kit
Jrprich, about six months after I purchased my new '05, C6, I noticed a swiping scratch following the path of my windshield wiper on my passenger's side. The 18" long arched scratch was deep enough to feel with my finger nail. I spent about 2 hours hand polishing the scratch with Zaino's Z-12 Clear-View Glass Polish. It did not completely remove the scratch but did hide it to the point that it was unnoticeable unless under the right lighting.
About six months after finding the first scratch I noticed another similar scratch across the driver’s side. I did the same using Z-12 and the results were similar. Both scratches were in line with the windshield wiper’s blade bracket guides so I replaced the wipers with non-stock wipers. It has been over three years now and the problem has not reoccurred.
About a year ago I purchased a Flex orbital polisher and used it with GPS and removed most of the remaining scratches. The scratches are so light now that I can only see them very slightly under a strong flood light.
I have ordered Eastwood’s Glass Polishing Kit for Deep Scratches (item#40030). This product was used on PowrBlock TV’s MuscleCar to remove deep scratches on a ’61 Chevy’s rear window. This kit comes with self-adhering hook-and-loop pad; coarse, medium and fine glass-polishing abrasives; 2-7/8”x1”-thick felt buff with 1/4”-drive adapter; 1-lb. Rhodite Pro Glass-Polishing Compound, and instructions. From what I’ve seen and read this is one (if not the only) product out there that will truly remove deep scratches in glass.
After I try it on my Vette to remove the remaining light wiper scratches and five years of sparkerlies, I will post the results on the forum.

I watched a show on Trucks a short while back, and they used Rhodite from the Eastwood company I beleive along with a small polisher/buffer.

I had the scuffed wiper area too and used a mail order product by Janvil. They have a scratch remover and polish. It takes lots and lots of repeat work by hand but if you stick with it the results are good. It's a mild abrasive and I remember that I spritzed the stuff with water when it began to cake up. Makes for a good upper body work out too.
