Default Looking for best 160 deg. thermostat

Can some one point me in the right direction for a quality 160 deg thermostat. I see some are available with out the housing. For simplicity I'd like to buy one with the housing.

Thanks!

OK now I am confused. Does anyone know if they changed the thermostat design in 2004? They all list 97-03 and say will not fit 04 model. Then they offer 04-10 with the thermostat separate from the inlet pipe. I can't remember if I have ever changed one on an 04 so I do not know if its part of the pipe or not.

Yes, it did change in 04...they started using a new water pump design that they carried forward to the C6's. What I don't know is if this is true for ALL 04's, or only for later production date 04's. You might need to do some searches on this.

Well I talked to the Chevy Dealer parts dept. and according to their parts explosion it lists the thermostat separate from the water inlet pipe.

Yesterday I compared mine with my buddies 03 and you can see the difference.

Glad to see the dealer confirms it as well

Well I ordered the one from Auto Zone. Costs a fraction of the SLP or Hypertech. We will see.

Ended up being incorrect. The genius behind the phone used a 2000 Corvette thinking all C5's were the same. Came as an assembly with housing, and did not show a listing for an Alt. temp thermostat for the 2004.

I would be looking for a 170* T-stat instead, 160 is too cold, your oil does not get hot enough and you also will have a lot of variation in temperature especially when your cruising and then you come to a stop light. Get your fans adjust with the 170* and you should be as good as gold

for you boys up in the Northeast this might not be a bad idea. I guess it depends on the weather you drive in and how cold it gets.

No, this applies anywhere. Cooler is not always better, I would look into this more before you ignore what I said. Look up the sweet spot.
