Default Escort radar detector mounts???

I've noticed that many of the C5 detector mounts only work with the V1.I want a 9500ix but I want to mount it under my rear view like many have done with the V1 mount. Who makes a mount for the ESCORT that will function and look as clean as the V1 rear view mirror mount?

Thanks,

Thanks,
I had the below mirror mount for my Escort 8500 X50, and didn't care for it, as the detector vibrated quite a bit. Plus it makes it easier to see your detector, making it a target for thieves. I went with the Vettemods mount, which uses the visor mount to the right of your mirror and is more stable and much less noticible. Go to www.vettemods.com to check it out.

I keep mine on the visor in two cars (one's a vette) by slipping onto the visor a knee support elastic bandage (medium or large depending on visor) purchased for under $10 dollars at a sporting goods store. Both are black.

For the Valentine 1 goes on top of the visor with the detector slipped snugly inside ( large size knee support) and has a small hole cut in it so I can see the arrows for ahead or back and alarm numbers, the hole is sewn/reinforced, power is mirror fed, very stealth.

On the other car the Escort 8500 is underneath the visor (inside the sleeve) and not visible and is powered by a switch mounted underneath the dash and wire hidden as it goes up the post/mouldings to visor. Totally stealth.

I primarly go by audio signals on both but can look at the Valentine visuals.

Any one looking through the side/back window, even with a flashlight, will rarely be able to detect my detectors. Can use with targa top off. Flip visor down to level as needed.

PS - also slip my cell phone in there, better reception being higher up and its close to bluetooth unit, again, good hiding place.

No radar unit is 100% cop proof. I just got a ticket for 82 in a 65 north of Corpus Christi, Tx. The alarm (Escort 8500) went off as the DPS' radar shot me. No time to brake. Keep eyeballin' the "enemy".

Due diligence is still required. However, the times they DO Save you, makes it well worth having one. Mine has paid for itself many times over. It's like my American Express card, "I never leave home without it!"

Good information. Since the h/c I've noticed that even when I am not trying to speed and just cruising around I find myself going to fast. I know the detector is not full proof but if it saves me from one ticket it will pay for itself and one Vegas run will test that theory.

I hard wired 8500-50 in using the below schematic.

For a mount I got some sheet metal and cut it to the same width as my visor mount. I used a visor mount I already had as a pattern for the cutout where it clips in. To hold the mount instead of using the visor it’s self I used the screw that holds the visor lock in place. It holds great and I can still use my visor as it was intended .

The green LED is the power light. The red is the alert light and the push button is for the mute feature.
