A local trip to Kerbeck!
Hi
Yesterday l took my cousin over to Kerbeck to look at used C5's because he seems to be getting the vette bug once again. He has owned vettes for a while and his last vette was a C6 vert that he got rid of after 2yrs because it was tough driving it with the top down in a suit! But he was able to drive a Porsche coupe without a problem.
Anyway Kerbeck had an awesome collection of Grand Sports and a ZR-1 but only one C5 vert (50Aniv).
After about 15 minutes my cousin came over to me and said let's get out of here, l saw enough and a vette is just not for me at this point in his life. Money is not an issue so l asked him what's wrong and he replied " look around and how many customer's do you see? I replied 3 customers but it was a wednesday morning.
He then asked me how old are they and then l saw where he was going! All three and two had there wives with them were all over 70's years old and they were looking at the Grand Sports.
He said that this is the main reason that he lost interest in the vettes and in this economy it was an old man's car and even then vette sales might just break 12,000 units this year!
A sad day and then l decided to keep my C5 to distance myself from the new breed. And on the other side l'm glad that they are out there buying new ones so that down the road l can pick up a garage queen to drive myself.

Because he was planning to leave it at his beach house where his 4 son's would have access to the key's! And they all have there own new cars so the vette would be easy pickin's.
Would you leave a new vette there and being that he only has a 3 car garage?

So he's worried about his image, not what he's driving?
We don't need him anyway. Let him buy a Prius, light blue would be cool, all the 'guys' that concern themselves with 'fashion' like those things.

That's not the real reason....just his excuse.
Since he apparantly wants a young mans car, perhaps a *** tuner would be a good fit.

So he doesn't want to buy a Vette because all he saw was elderly citizens in the showroom. Great excuse. With C5 prices being so low, there are lots of younger owners now - he's just not looking in the right places.

If, and only if, it's an old man's car it's because the 20's some can't swing a new one. That has to be the sole reason IMOP. Solution? Buy usd.
How do you think I managed all my 20+ on LEO salary, house(s), my college, divorce, alimony+child support, & my share of kid's college? Heck, I even took a 2nd on one for the tax write-off. That's extreme but it was the only way. After some success with props since ret, I got this house paid off & enough to buy a new ZR cash. I'm very content w/my C5Z right now. Very content.

This thread is shallow at best. Doesn't Kerbeck do most of it's business via internet sales? If money is no object and he's a Corvette enthusiast, who cares what age the people are that are in the showroom? My god, I drove Chevy Impalas back in the 70's when I was in my early 20's. I didn't care if "old" people drove most of them, I liked their comfort and room. Why do people worry about stereotyping a vehicle because white hairs are driving them? And yes, the color of my hair is white and I own 2 Corvettes. Tell your buddy that and he'll never want to enjoy a great car, the Corvette.

In general terms,,only two types available on Wed.mornings,,,,older guys as shift workers!! Older guys probably have the bucks,,while I'd wager the average shift worker isn't going to be shelling out 60K!!Bottom line,,,IF your are mature enough(not talking age here) and secure enough in your manhood,,,WHO CARES what others think!!!
