Sanding smooth & painting the black front license plate cover?
Can anyone recommend a good method to sand smooth the black ABS plastic license plate cover, priming (if necessary) and how I could go about painting it Torch Red? Do dealers sell spray cans of OEM paint? Would it need to be clear coated too? I'm not looking for perfect color & gloss match, but reasonably close.
Thanks for any tips.

You can get small cans of spray paint and clear from the dealer. That would be your best bet, No shipping charges.

Get the TR paint and clear from the dealer. Im pretty sure they give pre-valve bottles now with the paint not cans...when requested.
After the clear cures..wetsand with 1500, 2500 then 3000 and use a buffing compound such as 3/M with a rotary and buff it out to a high gloss shine.
Might sound very involved but its not and very simple to do on such a small piece. If you need any other help shoot me a PM

First of all you need a plastic prep primer to bond to the abs. Then to get it smooth a sandable primer is needed three med coats should do it. Wet sand primer with 320 wet dry paper untill smooth, rinse with clean water let dry. Apply three coats of Duplicolor torch red Is real close in color. Give 15 min. tack time between coats. Apply three coats of duplicolor clear high gloss let dry overnight and your done. You can wet sand and buff but its not needed unless you have alot of imperfections. Good luck
