Just getting ready to install fat daddy's and now i see these fang things. Whats pros and cons on both, which do you guys prefer. Seems like the fat daddys will raise car a little more then the fangs. I am clueless though

I Have the A & A Rail savers, which are similar to the Fat Daddy's, although the Fat Daddy's look to be more stout. The "Fangs" look like they might not stand up if you hit something solid, like a parking lot concrete block. My rail savers have have saved me too many times to count.
I'd Go with the Fat Daddy's!

I have the Fat Daddy's and the frame rail savers. Great investment if your car is lowered or not. Give CCA a call Chuck will set you up.

On their website it says $54.95 for the C5 Fangs, and $49.95 for the C6 Fangs.

What surprised me were the Fangs are made of plastic, and are white in color. Plastic/color is enough to make me not want to pay that price.
I like the Fat MaMa's over all the rest.

I'm considering the same options to help prevent scrapes on my frame rails as well. The Fangs are a hard white gel that apparently look more gray after installed after wrapping over the black frame rails. Due to the mold and type of plastic used, they cannot be painted, however are not very noticable.

My concern with the Fat Daddies (2 wheels) or Fat Mommas (4 wheels) is that after a couple of rubs, won't the wheels look like used roller skate wheels? I'm not sure if I want that look going on either.

Honestly, after 6 years of ownership of my C5, I've only rubbed the bottom of my frame rails about 3-4 times and the culprit has usually been a parking block or sidewalk curb. I have learned to back in as much as possible and the damage so far has been very light that nothing some black paint hasn't fixed. As a result, I'm leaning torwards the Fangs. I don't think any of these protection devices would really help if the frame rails bottomed out hard.

You get a vote here on the Fat Mamma's IMO 2 wheels are better than 1. From the CCA site...

The "FattMamma" was designed and engineered by Custom Corvette Accessories with strength in mind. The "FattMamma" uses grade 8 bolts and has an 1 7/8 inch wide polyurethane wheel that can withstand up to 800 pounds of operating pressure and 1200 pounds of static load.


I don't think a piece of plastic can withstand anywhere near that much pressure. I might be wrong but to me there is not anything to compare here.

woot woot I just ordered my Fangs. after watching the videos I saw how well they work. I cant wait to go sink my Fangs into a parking block. lol Im really going to bump up and down one a few time to see for myself and just cuz it looks kinda fun.

Hi,
Though you might want to know some of the advantages of having Fangs. First they distribute the load on the center of the skid plate where it is the strongest and can evenly distribute the impact, not on one side or the other where the side load can bend or crack the skid plate. Some people think plastic is not strong enough to take the abuse, the super performance plastic we use is 6 times more abrasion resistant than steel making them slide very smoothly over what ever they come into contact with. They perform perfectly in hot or cold weather. There are no moving parts to wear out. You will only loose 1/8” of ground clearance. They only weigh 5oz for those that worry about weigh . On the C5’s there is no drilling or modification needed to install them. The C6 requires two small holes and we supply the drill bit and the stainless steel self tapping screws. The Fangs look light gray when install of the black skid plate. The Fangs give protection over the entire skid not just the bottom. So if you bump up on a parking block like we demonstrate in our video you are protected from the front to back from the highest point of the skid plate to the lowest. The Fangs look good, smooth and blend in with your Corvette. They don’t look like you just bolted something on to your skid bar they like the belong.

I'm not so much interested in protecting my radiator supports as I am not wanting the bottom side of my front bumper scratched. Do the daddies & mamas help to protect the bumper

While I have a hard time convincing myself to spend that much on a piece of plastic those videos were pretty impressive. Granted the fat daddy's could probably be bought at a hardware store for a few bucks as well
So to decide I'll need to know what the HP gains are on each

Well I just ordered my "Fangs" for my White C5....

I wached the videos and they suit my needs.....

Plus adding "Fangs" to a Vette just sound cool.......Adding a Fatmamma to your vette sounds, well.....like you just scored with a heffalump.

I guess it would depend on the situation. If you pull up to a parking block or raised curb, the bottom side of your front bumper would hit/scrape before you would even reach the frame supports. So I guess the answer is no.

If you hit a pitch in the road where the frame supports hit, then the fangs or wheels would help protect.

IMO they are two different types of hazards to avoid and neither the fangs or the wheels will help if the height of the block is enough to scrape the bumper before moving back to the frame supports.

However, I plan to attach some old burber carpeting to the underside of my front bumper with some duck tape just to be safe!

The Fangs are lighter by far so it wont take as much HP to get moving!
