The film does come with its own adhesive backing. I think you're refering to the primer. The primer is only needed where contours and curves require the film to be stretched, which makes it want to lift off of the contact surface. I also primed the areas behind the edges where the film tucks behind.

Thanks for noticing! It was VERY intentional.

How tough would it be to do this section? I mean with those 4 holes in there oblong shape like that? It would sure look sweet as mine is just satin black now.

Great job on the interior bro!

I make alot of real carbon fiber overlays, but I think I may start using this. I have been curious as to how it would look. I think if I cleared it I could get the depth of real CF. All I know is that sanding it for hours just got plane old to me. This looks alot easier and cleaner to work with. Glad I saw this thread b/c im pretty much going to do this now.

Thanks!

I would do it in 2 steps. First do the inside ring surface, then follow with the lower fascia and blend into the rings.

Here's why: It will be pretty tough to stretch the small amount of material that will be available from the lower fascia that covers the oblong openings, let alone enough to tuck material onto the unexposed side to assure a good tight edge.

Are you saying to do it in multiple pieces or one piece and just start with the rings?

Would actually be 5 pieces (4 long strips for rings and 1 large piece for fascia. Do the rings first. Cut 4 long strips about 2" wide and long enough to cover the circumference. Set back about 1/4" from exterior bumper face (avoiding funnel shaped radii at face) and then trim excess from the inboard edges. Then cover the fascia. Slit the ring openings. Cut reliefs at the ends of the slits and roll the flaps onto the previously covered rings.

That's what I would do...Your call though. Good luck.

btw...I'd love to see some pics when done! - C.A.

I have a question for the OP. How much does the vinyl stretch? I think this would be great for the brake duct scoops, but I think it will need to be stretched a little bit to cover the inside contours. What do you think?

thats a good idea. Id like to see what the OP says about this. Im about to order some off the auction and get some extra material to try some different stuff around the car.

The material will stretch quite a bit when heated. I'm sure you'll be ok with the rear brake ducts. That said, I'll take a look this weekend at my buddy's Z06 and let you know what I think about covering those pieces. Stay tuned... - Mike

Correct... The material will stretch very nicely when heated the right amount. It can be over heated and over stretched which will tear the film right in half causing you to start all over. ask me how I know.
Here is a pretty good example of its abilities.

I was thinking about doing the brake ducts too but not sure if I want to mess with taking the screens out to make it easier and look overall better.

Ok, I looked at my bud's Z06 today. Those rear ducts are going to be a little testy as they have some serious contour changes. That said, it may be possibe to do with one piece, but must likey will need two - with a seam under the top portion (not visible unless you're laying on your back on the street).
