What gets gum off?

What gets gum off?
Does anybody have any ideas how to get gum off without scratching/ harming the paint. I must have driven through gum yesterday and now it is on my fender behind the rear wheel. Unfortunately, it is too hot in PA right now for the gum to harden and it is still gooey. I tried to pick it off without success and washing made it worse. Any ideas? Thanks.

On carpet or fabric, you can turn a can of "computer dust off" upside down and give the gum a blast of the liquid to freeze it,and it comes right out--might work on paint also.
Or,you might just end up with frozen gum on the paint that still won't come off.
Keep it in mind if you ever get any on the carpet,though...

What will get gum off?
I tried the ice..., it didn't do much except melt. Thanks though, I appreciate the advice. Will the WD-40 stay oily for a long time on the car...will it be all over the car when I wash it? Also, will the denatured alcohol hurt the clear coat? Thanks for the responses, I'm just a very proud Vette owner who doesn't want to screw up the paint.

Liquid Glass pre-cleaner. Used it on my car when I had a long strand of pink gum down the side of it.

Many car washes have the ability to switch a bay over to hot water if you ask. That should get it off and it works great in the engine compartment to get grime off engines without needing degreasers.

baby oil will also break it down (and won't damage the paint if left on a bit like wd40). it is also the best bug and tar remover (not to mention the most economical).

Quit phucking around with ice-cream and peanut butter...those are treats for your dog. As others have said, goo gone, or WD40 will work just fine.
