My first guess would be the owner traded it at a new car dealer for maybe a new C6. New car dealers will either will hold something like that for a short time to see if there is any interest, if not then run it through the auction.

If you are interested and the used car dealership is up front they will give you the info on it, or ask for a carfax (not always the best info).

I think I would have to contact the previous owner. It is a little scary seeing something like that on a lot. I just ran across a modded c6 on a Dodge lot. When asked why they had it they told me they bought it from a wholesaler and shouldn't have cause they don't know anything about them and it has been a nightmare car.

I agree, all the crap I have changed on my Z (Maint., Perf., Cosmetic), I would def inspect the car inside and out, test drive it and then make a decision.

Stacek Chevrolet in Wheeling Il sells Calloway supercharged cars that come with a full GM warranty. I'd buy one of those.

It would really depend on the car for me. If it was in excellent shape, had all maintenance receipts and I could talk with both the last owner and the shop that did the mods, then I might consider it. Thoroughly checking the car over would be a must.

I would. If it can be inspected very thoroughly first. I would purchase a FI vette from a dealership.

Would you purchase a FI vette from a independent seller?

That is total different from a used modded Z06 on a used car lot. But As I stated earlier, most new car dealers only want clean stock vehicles on there lot. Also if the car was traded in on a new vehicle and it was not a new Chevrolet, then the dealer would probably move it off their lot as soon as possible.

On a side note, I read an article earlier today, the the market VP for Chevrolet as told all Chevrolet employee's that they are not to refer to Chevrolet as a Chevy any longer. Right I can really see that happening.

here is the article; http://www.autoblog.com/2010/06/10/r...nickname-w-po/

If it was a big Chevy dealer's used lot or something and they included their standard 1 or 2 year "major issue" warranty I wouldn't have a problem with it.

Honestly I'm not sure I feel too good buying any used car from a private seller or dealer with no warranty after the engine took a dump on my 02Z 3 weeks or so after purchase. Got a $7.5k (including labor) brand new LS6 installed and all it cost me was $200 for the deductible.... I think I literally would have been in tears if I had to cover that....

Only after I contacted the previous owner and felt 100% satisfied with the car being in perfect condition and not abused--used ok, abused and I'd pass!

Yes! I'd take it and get it checked out by a competent Corvette shop with a Dyno

Thanks,Matt
