Went out to the ocean though to take some pics. It's so easy to take the northwest for granted due to the rain sometimes but man do we have a lot of beautiful scenery.

I thought this one was a good one but could use some noise reduction and a little HDR. I got a little more dynamic range out of it.

Cool!!! Had an MG-B on Daytona back in the late 70's,,almost as heavy,,and much narrower tires. It didn't sink!! Now it DID have much more ground clearance!!

[QUOTE=speedycpu;1574320607]I thought this one was a good one but could use some noise reduction and a little HDR. I got a little more dynamic range out of it.

So....tell me what "noise" is as I am now hearing my 12 megapixel Canon I bought can create excessive "noise" resulting in lesser quality pics. I think I see it in some pics taken on auto but don't know how to reduce it either while snapping or afterwards with a photo program.

I like the results you brought....just don't entirely understand it.

Thanks in advance.

It is called luminance and chroma noise. This generally happens at higher ISO modes (800+). Luminance noise is generally dots everywhere, this is due to a reduction in signal to noise when the ISO is bumped. Chroma noise is the random color patterns all over in high ISO modes, also due to the signal/noise ratio. Sensor size makes a big difference. The larger APS-C sensors (full frame are even better) on D-SLR cameras have much lower noise vs the tiny CCD/CMOS sensors on compact camera. This is one reason why when someone takes a picture with a phone or compact camera at high ISO you see lots of dots, loss of color, lower contrast, etc.

You can PM me for more info if you'd like that way I don't clutter up the OP's thread with OT stuff.

Basically use the lowest ISO mode you can and still have a decent enough shutter speed so the image doesn't blur.

Very cool speedy...

Yeah I just have a little 8MP hand camera.

I've actually been actively looking at DSLRs and might pick up a D90 here real soon. I had someone tell me there is a new technology out from Sony that is going to replace SLR too.
