2001 Z06 fender badge simply has Z06 on it, whereas the 2002-04 models have Z06 405hp on them.
It is conceiveable that a body shop didn't know the difference and ordered the wrong one.
Run a carfax on it which will only help if it was a reported issue.
Maybe the car had a blowout the ruined the fender and it was replaced....lots of possible reasons.

One of those is wrong...what year is the car? 01 just said Z06, and 02-04 had the 405hp.

First off, thanks for your service. Run the car fax, may/may not help. Contact the previous owner, see what he has to say. If he's not the first owner, contact the corvette museum, they can trace what dealership the car was bought at by the original owner, and start your search there. Good luck, and I hope it was just a fender replacement.

Well something not right, one side of your Z is an 01 the other is an 02.
Could have been wrecked and the body shop stuck on the wrong emblem. You could run a Carfax, but sometimes small stuff don't get turned in. Look under the fender well to see if you can spot any overspray. If the paint matches very well I wouldn't worry about it too much and as long as the car rides and drives well.

Perfect paint......
buyer beware! If you had said that the paint reflected the miles then i'd say ' well maybe a factory goof up'. But with perfect paint logic says this is not OEM. The emblems cost $25- and many folks forget the '01 Z06 emblem is just plain Z06.
If the year of your car is in question then check the VIN number . Tenth digit will give you the year.
