Default something I noticed at a recent corvette gathering

So I went to a corvette together in cooperstown new york this past weekend, a lot of vettes showed up, I figure around 60-70 vettes totall. All generations were present, everything from a 63 split window, to brand new grand sports and C6Zs. But one thing I couldnt belive is that I had the only C5Z there, In fact, the same thing happened to me at a tottaly different gathering last summer. I know the production of numbers were lower compared to more mainstream vettes but I wouldnt consider the C5Z a super rare car or anything so I'm a little suprised by this.

In late April I went to a Corvette only show at the original Quaker Steak & Lube in Sharon, PA. 75 Vette's of all generations, 2 C5Z's. C5Z's accounted for a little over 11% of total C5 production. That's fairly rare

All the Z06 owners are hiding thier low mile cars in thier garages. Theyre saving them for us drivers so when were done with ours we can buy thiers.

There's going to be a C6Z carbon owner out there keeping mine for me. He'll keep it in a climate controlled garage, covered, pay the depreciation, and then sell it to me in a few years. Thanks buddy!!

I went to a large Texas Style Corvette event this past weekend @ Texas Motor Speedway.. Every generation represented, gorgeous cars... However, out of all of them, and there was ALOT not 1 Black/Mod Red C5Z other than mine... and i did not have it in the concourse... Next year for sure... Gotta love these cars men...

Corvette shows are usually attended by old waxers. C5Z06s draw younger performance oriented buyers who have little interest in showing their cars in all vette shows. Those old waxers may have bought C5Z06's new, but most have moved on to C6s and passed the C5Z06s down to the performance guys. That's why their show turnout will be low. Now attend a track day at your local road course. C5Z06 turnout might be half of all vettes.

I've had similar experiences. I tried going to one, and left early. Not my crowd. Everybody had on Corvette hats/shirts and so did their wives. I'll stick to the track. The vette car shows are not my crowd.

Couldn't have said it better myself. That's not my crowd either. I only own one thing with the name "Corvette" on it and that's the Z.

Corvette mustache, corvette teeth, corvette panties,bra.. well, those are ok on the right woman...

I am one of those "old" waxers to whom you refer. Love the cars,,, not so much some of the people...

Lots of FRCs/C5Zs here in Tidewater. There were 8 out of approximately 200+ Corvettes at the last show I attended. All of them (including my Z16) had go-fast mods...

I think this sums its up pretty well.

I'm 26 and feel out of place with the older people at most meets. I wave at every Vette I see on the road, but meets are something I shy away from.

It's nothing personal, but flip the coin and look at it from a younger persons point of view. If you were a 50+ enthusiast going to a meet dominated by 18-25 year olds, you would feel out of place as well.
