Default Cure for glass roof hot house affect

Finally a real cure that, works great, inexpensive, somewhat easy. Works in South FL 92 degree sunshine

The Sun Shade will hang down a bit as I used 6 Velcor squares, creating a small air space which seem to help.

Material needed:

Sun Shade panel for windshield about $10, sandwich type with circles on it.
Magic marker, I used a Sharpie
Heavy duty sissors
1/2x1/2" Velcor squares .......... 6
About one hour of time.

Lay roof panel upside down on a throw rug or towels on a table.
Spread out Sun Shade over roof.
Start reducing size of Sun Shade little by little as you mark the excess.
Finally when it fits tightly inside the roof use the Veclor squares to fasten it in there..

Finished photos shown, click on them to enlarge. The hjeat difference is truly amazingthe sun's rays are reflected away from the roof. I had tried cardboard. Looked bad & didn't work nearly as well. Also tried a thinner Sun Shade but not nearly as good.

great idea (i live even further south in florida than you do, lol). don't need it for my C5 ce convert, but i will definitely use that technique on the glass t-tops of my 78 pace car for the summer months. and you're right, it's like being in a hothouse with the glass tops.

You can't see it from the outside unless you are next to the car and even then faintly, The heat difference is amazing to say the least.

Nice job probably slips right behind the pass seat when ya want to take it off also.

You it occurrs to me that Ive never seen a C5 with a heavily mirrored targa ? I mean there is no legal problem, wonder if anyone who lives in the sunbelt has done this?

Seems like it would work, Im talking "Highway Patrol mirrored sunglasses" type tint.

Anyone ever see this?

Great mod!!! I may have to do this when I get home.

I wouls also like to see a heavily tinted one as mentioned above and how well it helps with the heat.
