Front Brake Duct Screen Help
I own a 2000 Hardtop. Put the front brake duct aftermarket screens in and ran them since new. Now all of sudden I have been losing the screen on the front right. I understand that they are a compression fit, but how can the be glued, taped or any other method without seeing all of this and how do you get to it to accomplish a permanent fix? After the years I know they have probably loosended up a bit. Any quick fix is appreciated. I understand that this not earth shattering for all, but drives me crazy. Thank for any help.t............

I plan to install a set and after performing my current lighting mod where I removed the headlights and had full access down into the light well, I think I may try inserting the screens into the last ridge of the brake duct. That way the screen is placed inside the duct vs. compression pressed against the front fender.
Anyone else try this?

The screens for the front brake ducts are a compression fit, like you say. They should hold in fairly tight with the brake duct accordian piece that mates up to the front fasica opening. I've run them in mine also and never had an issue with them coming loose.

I have Racemesh grilles. They sit in the first notch of the brake duct. I put some clear silicone in there as well to keep it from moving around.

That looks good. So they are not pressure fitted between the brake duct and the fascia correct? How difficult is it to get them into the first notch of the brake duct?

It wasn't too bad. I put them in at an angle. I would pull one end/corner into the first slot of the tube. Then grab the other side of the screen with needle nose pliers and pull it until the whole screens slips into the slot. Kind of a pain but not too bad. They sit kind of loose in there and that bothered me. Not that they will fall out, that will not happen. I just didn't like them vibrating in there. So I shot some silicone in to the edge of the slot to just hold the screens from being able to float around. Now they hold still and you can't see the silicone.
I wished they had frames around them like the fog light/Z06 screens do. Then they would mount more flush on the bumper and match the fog screens better. I may modify them later to be like that but for now it looks good. I have to pull the front bumper off to have it repainted so I may do it then.

I put mine in from underneath. I pulled the ducts back from the fascia and popped them into the ducts for a snug fit. Then pushed the ducts back into the fascia. Those screens aren't going anywhere!

I'd advise you find a way to get the other one to fall out. Brake ducts are not a good place to restrict airflow.... You want all you can get in those ducts.
