C6 Z06 Splash guards installed with pics
I know this is not everyone's favorite mod but I thought I would offer up some pics for those considering it.
First thanks for DeeGee for his excellent write up here. These ran me $117 shipped from Gene. You will need some paitence and it absolutely requires a dremel tool. I would also suggest taping the outside to protect it from scratches while forming it.
For me with 11" wheels in the rear the tires just are a little too exposed for me. Especially when viewed from the rear. I didn't like all the junk that was getting thrown on my quarter panel either. I can say that even a few days later I am having a little "drill regret" having done some permanent changes to my fender lip (i.e. holes) but I am pretty happy with the results. If you do it right it can really look factory. Just like the C6 Z06 looks.
*** Original "wide style" version (replaced with slim version below) ***
Update on 4/24 - I ended up cutting a different set because I really didn't like how wide they were and I wanted them more subtle. I went with the thinned out version. You can see another great example of this on the CF here.
Couple things to pass on to someone that is going to do this mod:
First I would not recommend drilling all those holes !! (especially that one at the top of the guard! Those can crack so easily). I have found one hole at the very bottom is enough. Just add some double stick tape (3M #4952 to be exact). You can order it online from McMaster.com). Add a couple strips to the existing guard and you are good to go. If you don't like it you have one hole to plug that you can barely see. Drill 8 holes and you better like the splash guard for life. Or replace both quarters and the rear bumper. Not to mention at least for me the plastic bolts that hold the guard in place stuck out like a sore thumb.
Second at least for me I needed to paint mine since they got all scratched. Even when trying not too. After I finished cutting them I prepped them and painted them with bumper paint. Then I wet sanded and painted them again. For both my sets they just got too many scratches to make me happy.
See the new pictures below with slimmed down version. Sorry I had to brighten the picture or you could not even see the splash guards. They no longer jump out at you and blend really nice with the car while still giving me the look and protection I was looking for.

Melting Slicks
Looks good..
Question and a request..
Question: What size wheels and tires are you running
Request: Can you take a shot so I can see just how much thoes tires stick out?
This is a mod Ive been planning for a while and I need new tires... with my Vesdriens right now the face of the wheels is actually beyond the face of the fender..but because the tire profile is rounded at top they sort of tuck nicely at the top of the wheel well... your KWD's seem to be doing the same

I like what you have done. I have those "mud flaps" on
flared fenders, I am satisfied.

I really like the way that looks. It'd stand out less if it were a black car. I know I wish the previous owners would have done something like this cuz my paint right behind the rear wheels is being chipped away slowly from rocks kinda annnoying that i'll have to respray my car eventually down the road.

good job.
doesn't "absolutely require" a dremel, though.

Wow, great job, it looks stock as if it came from the GM factory floor room. I am planning on installing those C6 guards on my black 99 C5 as well. Question, are you planning on installing the front guards (that go in the front of the wheel well instead of the rear of the front fender?). I"m planning only doing the rear like yours.. Dam your ride looks great with or without those guards... Nice ride... nice ride...

Agreed. I will rephrase. I can't imagine doing it without a dremel. If you want to use snips and sandpaper and you can get it looking factory with no gaps I will tip my hat to you.
No bushings in the front. Longer bolts in the rear. The standard "slam" that a lot of guys are running. I also have Bilstein Sports all around.

To everyone else thanks for the comments. If anyone needs any additional pics from other angles I can post them.

Nice job and looks great - a little added protection is not a bad thing.
