Default Normal Oil Pressure?

Hey all,

I just recently purchased an '01 ZO6 and was wondering what your guys' normal oil pressure is at?

I usually run 40PSI at idle and about 51-52 PSI while driving (once warm). Is that high?

Do I need to drain a little bit? As far as I know, the last owner had his previous shop use 5w30 full synthetic.

Thanks

-K

That sounds about right...

If mine is warmed up it will be at 38 to 40 psi at idle, 50 to 60 depending on how hard I accelerate.

Sounds pretty normal to me. That's approximately what my oil pressure reads.

If I recall, mine runs about 55psi cruising at 80mph, and around the 35-40psi at idle.

Doesn't engine modifications affect oil pressure?

Draining oil will not effect pressure. As long as there is oil in the pump the pressure will be there, whatever it is. Pressure is effected by bearing clearances and viscosity of oil. Yours sounds good.

Sound perfectly normal ! When I start my 2003 LS1 in the morning, it'll register 50PSI, once warmed up it stays at about 40 PSI overall while driving, on the turnpike it is at 40psi and when I'm just running errands around town with air on and in gear (A4) it sits at 30 psi or a smige above, like 31 or 32 psi hot and in gear idling at 600rpm's.

I've been told, you need 10 psi per 1000K rpms, so if your idling at 500 or 600 rpm's and you've got 30 or 40 psi your in real good shape.
