03 z06 - worth the price?
Well, I'm thinking that it's worth it to me, I just wanted to see if you guys thought the same.
I'm looking at a 03 z06 with 9,300 miles (at a dealership). They have it listed for $29,500...but the internet price on autotrader is $27,900. I've talked them down to $26,900. It's an anniversary model and the KBB is about $29,200 or so. The car is immaculate and drive perfectly. The only problem is the speedo isn't working, but the HUD will show the mph. So, I would have them fix that before I buy. Personally, seems like a good deal for a car with very low miles.

I think some other guys will have better input.. but I'd look it over very carefully. The price is about right, but why isn't the speedo working? Had the car been modded, then de-modded to sell? They would at least have to fix the speedo before I made any sort of commitment to the car..
Don't let them pressure you into buying or signing a contract on it before it is 100%. I looked at a Z06 at a dealership recently that needed a few bugs fixed and they were doing everything they could to get me to commit to buying before they fixed any of it.
I'm sure the speedo could be broken for some innocent reason, but that doesn't happen often, so I'd be very cautious.

Um--what makes you think the mileage--9300m--is correct if the speedo and odometer aren't working and haven't been working for who knows how long???

Doesnt sound to bad of a deal. Does make me wonder why the dealer wouldnt fix the speedo before they started offering the car for sale. I mean who would buy the car and say no big deal I'll fix it myself.

Common mistake was starting the negotiations from their price point. It's important to know or make an educated guess what the car cost them and negotiate up from there. If the dealer took this car as a trade-in, they have less than $20k invested and if they bought it at auction they should be in it for less than $18k.
This is the price you should begin negotiating from. Also, all 2003 Vettes have the 50th anniversary badge, but are NOT 50th Anniversary Editions so don't let them try to use that as justificaiton for their price.
So, even if they were in it for trade-in they would be making nearly $7 grand or around 35% profit on your purchase. A reasonable dealership will generally turn a car for a 20-25% margin if they know you're serious and savvy. I think with the economy you have some room to still negotiate, but if you think $26.9 is fair and don't want to risk missing the opportunity then go get it and don't worry about what we think! Good luck!

I'd have to agree that its really a matter of if its worth it to you. I've been looking at Z's for almost 2 years now and very serously for the last year or so. I just picked up an 02 with 13k on, perfect shape in and out. I got it for $24,000 and made them put 4 new tires on it which would have cost me about 1200 bucks. I'd like to think I found a good deal and yours doesn't seem bad either. They seem to always be willing to go down a little in price to see what you can do. Whatever you end up spending i'm sure you will not be disappointed in a Z06!

Well, things seem to be going smoothly. Going to go tot he bank tomorrow and see if I can get my financing all squared away. If it goes to plan (I have great credit and I've NEVER been denied on any loan) the car should be mine within a few days. I'm sure I could've probably gotten myself a better deal. But, it's a learning experience. To me, the bottom line is I can't go wrong with a 03 z06 with 9,300 miles. I have the feeling I'm going to enjoy the hell out of this car

Your doing good that price. The milage is the big plus. Compared to my 02 Z that I bought with 8200 miles just about 5 months ago for 25,000. Mine did come with a ton of high dollor mods . To me that was a huge plus but to some it would not be.

the speedo problem could be as easy as a connection not hooked up, I think its located in the rear of the car? I may be wrong, I had a problem with the speedo not working after I picked it up from my repair shop, simple plug was not plugged back in after repairs, 5 minutes later and I was on my way.

The bottom line is: is it the car you want--color int/ext and is it within the your price limits. I don't care whether it is a 2002,2003, or 2004 and I am flexible on colors, and mileage from 0-40K is fine with me--I won't pay a premium for a low mileage car because I plan on driving this car. In conclusion it doesn't matter what I think--it's what you think. If you think it is a good deal than it is--if you have been looking for a while you know what the prices are. Don't be in a hurry there are lots of cars for sale and the prices aren't going up.
