Try googling R&E paints, they can match the color code of your car and put it in a spray can for you. I bought some MY from them twice and it looks really good.

I used Dupli-color T408 pewter on my surround and it's real close, you can't really tell. It's a truck, van & SUV number. Hope that helps.

Default pewter

Thanks, will take a look at that dupl-color. Did you do any special prep for it? I mean other than a quick rough up and cleaning.

you can get the exact color, in a spray can, from any GM dealership if you give the your paint code. My car used to be Black 'till I ordered 123 cans.

Default Paint

I used that exact same Duplicolor paint that JohnnyDee mentioned as well. Pretty good match.

I did as you said, sanded a bit, cleaned with a final wipe of alcohol. I did use a sanding primer. Dupli-color also makes a spray adhesion promoter that's suppose to help with that black plastic. I didn't find that until I was done. I haven't had any problems so far.

Did you clear coat it after laying down the color coats?? Or was the paint glossy enough out of the spray can?

I had posted this sometime last year. Here's a repeat for you. Your frame probably has the pebble grain finish. Use 300 grit sandpaper to smooth it down. Then use 600 grit to give it a really smooth finish. After sanding, wash, using a slight amount of dish soap. Rinse throughly and let air dry. Wipe with a lint free rag (don't touch the front of the frame with bare fingers).

Shoot 1 coat DupliColor Pewter Metallic T408.Let dry 24 hrs. Wet sand lightly w/600 grit paper. Rinse with clear water. let air dry. Wipe w/ lint free rag. Again, don't touch front with bare fingers. Shoot 2nd coat T408. Let dry 24 hrs.

Wipe with a lint free rag and shoot with DupliColor Clear T125. Let dry 12 hrs.

DON'T get antsy. Let dry as above. If you don't, the coats will get cruddy and orangepeel. I did mine over 2 1/2 years ago and today it still looks new and factory fresh.

I used the T408 for my plate cover, and my ACI splitter. Cannot tell the difference. Actually, it looks better than factory. I polished out all the orange peel.

Thanks for all the info guys. This is what I was looking for as I didn't want to break out all my paint gear for this little part.

Default ordered paint

Well went down to order the paint. Stuff was on sale, got the paint, adhesion promoter, and clear for less than $14.00. Can't beat that. Thanks again

I painted mine 3 different times and always had cracks and peeling paint. Someone ran into my front fender and I had them paint it when i had the bodywork done and now it's perfect.

Anybody needing paint in a spray can that matches their color should be able to go to their local automotive paint supplier. They can mix the factory color and most have the capability to put it in a spray can. You would still need a clear to apply over the paint.
