Its probably more important to find out the exact build date of your car. I would stay away from fridays more than a specific year.

I too have heard that '99s are the way to go!
  • Only real men drive 99s
  • You can party like you're driving a nine-teen ninety-nine
  • 99 was the great one's number
  • 99 luftballoons
  • 99 is the largest 2 digit number there is

No sir, that was definitely the 1999s. 2001s were Susan Boyle!

Except for the C6 gas tank changes.

2001 and up was my choice. Largest # of changes took place in 2001, not much for non Z06 cars after than except the Mag Ride suspension, the 03 Anniversary package and the 04 Collectors.

Start at 01 and work toward 04 with best condition and lowest miles in the forefront of those years. If you like mods and find one that way the market is good to buy those , maybe 20 cents on the dollar for the mods

Consumer Reports actually leans toward the 03 for some reason. The 04 is a close second, and the earliest years were the most problematic.

I agree with and earlie thread, find one that has been well maintained.

I wouldn't say that. The retarded Column Lock problem went on to plague the C6s too. LOL

Aside from that, I'd say that it's a tie between 02 and 04. The difference being that the 02's fuel system is easier to mod while the 04s are simply newer.

I have to agree. I have a 2004 and had to have the crossover pipe replaced in addition I have had a lot of other issues like leaky rear axle seals (3) Water pump, oil pan gasket for 2 piece oil pan, delimitation of both door panels (twice), clutch slave etc. All with under 30K miles. Fortunately all except the water pump and the now leaking rear seal were replaced under new or extended warranty. My friend has a 97 and the biggest issue he has is the passenger side window motor not working, which I understand is due to a lack of use so it could be prevented very easily by just using the power window.

Early 03 would be the best model. The fuel system in the later models had issues with leaks between the connector pipe of the fuel tanks but my 04 will have a 98 system so that shouldn't be an issue.
