Hertz - Corvette ZHZ
Hey CF!
I'm going to be in Orlando for a couple days in late February -- Anyone drive the Corvette ZHZ's from Hertz? Is it worth while renting them? I admittedly don't know much about the differences between them and a regular production Vette.
Thoughts?
Family Vaca -- Might head out to the West coast of the pan-handle, or shoot up to Daytona Speedway one of the days...

Don't mind the dirt, I took these after driving the 'Road to Hana'.

I've rented one. It was pretty beat up and all 4 wheels were off balance (stupid NYC car) Not bad though. I had fun.
Be warned. The A6, if you romp on it from a roll, will drop from 6-4....and then to 2. Took me by surprise when I tried to pass someone.
And the paddles are set up obscenely stupidly. On both sides, you push the paddle forward with a tab to shift up and pull back to shift down.

The ones with high miles are showing up on eBay already. They put a lot more miles on the Corvettes than the Hertz Shelby's before taking them out of service and offering them for sale.

I rented one for a weekend b4 I bought my Z and it was a blast. Even with automatic, the paddle shifts quickly and the dual mode exhaust sounds really nice. I would recommend doing it at least once and get pics too. It just adds to your life's corvette experience! do it.

It's a good chance to compare your C5 to a C6 if you've never done that. The Hertz car is a standard C6 but with the F55 magnetic ride adjustable suspension option.

I've rented one a couple of times when I've been down in Miami.
A blast to drive especially with the paddle shifter. Don't like the C6 enough to buy one though and I'll hang on to my C5.
With a few mods from a C6 into my C5, seats, transmission, differential and a LS3, I'll have what I really wanted.

Well... I poked around the interwebs an found a Car & Driver discount code so I got it fr 98$ a day- cheaper than the 129 a day on the weekends for my Mazda 6.... Weird pricing strategy, but I'll take it

Rental
I rented one in Vegas a year and a half ago and had a blast with it!! I especially liked the seats, but my lightly modded C5 felt as strong. The XM radio worked well, the AC was great (even in the heat of Needles, Calif.), but the Nav system sucked..Maybe we just couldn't figure out how to use it!! Only had it for 2 days, but I'd do it again, especially if I could find a discount!! Enjoy!!

Rented one in Orlando while on a visit to the in-laws up near Daytona. Both the wife & me liked it. Maybe not enough to buy an ex-rental one but enough that I'm looking for a C4 or C5.
