Do you think the C5 will soon feel like the C4?
I was wondering if the C5 was going to stay in the hearts of all or get drowned out David Hasselhoff style like the C4. I mean sure the C4 is still a decent looking car but IMO if a Vette is not Pre-1973 or Post 1996 it just doesn't cut it for me, it reminds me of a bad 70's or 80's show... or even Beverly Hills 90210. Do you think that the C5 will have the same fate or is this car just too good lookin' to fade?

Well, it will fade some, then come back. Not to long ago it was pre 67. Now it is chrome bumpers. Soon it will be the non-fast back C3s that will be the flavor. Then all C3's. Then, there will be guys calling the C4 a classic, and it will go on. They all follow the same curve as history moves, and I think the new generations are no exception.
The only way it changes is if the C6 is the last corvette. But once the C7 hits, then the C5 will be two generations old. it just happens.

As new and better things come out, sure it will fade in popularity some. But it's still a great car and people will continue to enjoy a C5. IMO, the C4 is still a fine car and, especially in the later models, a great car to own and drive.

I owned a 1996 vette and loved how it drove and looked, however before buying it I test drove a few early model C-4 vettes and did not like them, the int , the rear end look etc. I do not mind 94-96 vettes at all but the early models dont cut it for me. Now the C-5 stayed basically unchanged except for wheels and a few refinements, but the int, motor etc all pretty much the same look, options. I have never driven a c-5 that I did not like and because of the design I still like it over most C-6`s. C-4 had a good car in the 80`s but the early models are very dated, i still think the later models with the updated dash and rear bumper look much better. IMO

Well just because time goes by doesn't mean a car has to fade. I will use other cars as an example:
03-04 SVT Cobra (I think that car will be remembered and adored for quite some time)
03-06 EVO VIII/IX (I think maybe that only 3 years of production did that)
00-01 Integra Type R
93-95 RX-7
93-98 Toyota Supra (hell yes)
E30/E36 M3...
etc.
Maybe the Corvettes history is what makes it possible for this to happen?

C4 is an ugly box. C5 isnt. Its a modern PCM controlled car. It makes much better HP than teh C4. The C4 tanked quick because no one wants that body style now that the 5/6 are out. Its the black sheep of the corvette body styles.
The C5 will drop and then stay stable IMHO for a while. Whats killing the C5 now is:
1.) economy all cars that arent for the family are falling fast
2.) they cant GIVE away 08 C6, and the 09 are hitting the lots. THey are doing invoice / below with 0% over 6 years! C5 used doesnt sound so good next to a deal like that!

C5's - A Pleasure To Look At
The C5 has a beautiful classic styling that will live forever. It was so well done that much of the design was carried over into the C6 - which is also a timeless styling effort. There hasn't been this level of styling since the magnificent C2's also timeless.

The C5 is still a very pretty car. I think it will be like the C2 and C3 when it gets "old." Those two gens are extremely popular and still very much enjoyed Corvettes. Though they are old, they are still held as popular models. Besides the C6 doesn't look different enough and the C5 still looks new to most people.

WTF?
The C4 is still a gorgeous car... a different beast from a C5, but gorgeous still. I miss my '90 6-spd red/red coupe every moment of every day. I love my '99, and yes it makes more power, but the '90 felt smaller and more "snug" on the inside, more like the cockpit of a fighter as opposed to a luxury car interior.
That being said, I hated the '84-'89 interior/dash, hence my search for a 1990 model. Never a big fan of the '91'-96 rounded body changes, prefer the "chiselled look" of the earlier cars' exterior.
The C5 too will be hot for years and years to come, IMO.
But who are we trying to please with our Vettes? As long as I love my car's look, feel and sound, I could care less whether other people think it's still the "bee's knees."

All generations have their own appeal. I think all will be collectors someday. To bad as a old guy mine will not be worth much till way past when I am gone. So I drive it every day.
