Anyone NOT running wipers on their C5?

I live in Oregon so, yes, I use them. My guess is that there are a bunch of $50,000 - $100,000 Vettes that rarely see daylight, let alone rain. I don't understand it, but to each is own.

Too much rain here in the south to consider going wiperless...+ there would be tickets for driving in the rain without them (even with rain-x). However, if I lived where I could do that I would be begging Joe for that smooth cover - the OP solution looks too unfinished for my taste.

Really just a "looks" thing.. but it looks pretty cool. Mine doesn't go out in the rain.. I like the rain-x idea though, just in case!

Well living in Florida, on a coast (west) I can't imagine driving without wipers during one of our toad strangler downpours. And even if Rain-X could handle the rain its that stray Pelican crap bomb that really needs wipers and washers.
And i dont even want to think about having my targa off when that Pelican dives and sites in just prior to release!

I'm thinking about investing in a gamma ray deterrent system for when the top is down.

so Z06Joe, if you ever contemplate producing the "smoothed" cowls, please post up the info.
i think it's one of those ideas that nobody thinks about until they see it and then the floodgates would be opened.
take care,

While agree that Rain-x is a great product, what happens when you slow down below 35mph? Wipers a must here in Southern Ontario, I like to drive my car and sometimes get caught in the rain. If I left it inside last season for fear of rain, it would never be out!!

I rarely use my wipers but they are still on the car. I keep the windshield well rain-xed. They are still a nuisance though when you wash the car and all the small parts are dripping water after you dried the car. I recently discovered a cure. I've replaced the wipers on my pickup with Michelin's single blade wipers, which happen to work great and last much longer than conventional wipers. My truck is my wet weather vehicle. It occurred to me that these wipers would be a great improvement on the Vette because they would be easier to dry and visually there is much less mass to see on the cowl. Really makes the area look cleaner, but you still have your wipers should you unexpectedly need them. Cheap, too. $13 each at Walmart.

I live in NE Florida being caught without wipers would be suicide in our rain that can come on with the drop of a hat.
Rainx or not!
BTW, it also qualifies you for a defective equipment ticket.
