What made you buy a corvette?

Melting Slicks
I came from a Turbo fwd, and a 5.0 stang. The Z06 would replaced my needs I got from both cars and give me room to grow, and the insurance was only $20 more.

If you ask me - it's because I love cars, have always had fun V8 chevy cars and owning a Vette was a childhood dream.
If you ask my wife - it's because I have a small *****.

Never thought about owning a street vette (although did own and race a SCCA Solo II B-Prepared roadster) until I started looking at a Camaro SS about 1995 or so just before they stopped making them. Got really serious about the Camaro and frequently drove by the local Chev dealer. One day the wife said there's a used red Corvette at the dealer. We looked at the '94 C4 6-sp coupe with a Greenwood rear wing and side rockers(?). High mileage but the price was right. Traded it in a few years later at the same dealer for a year old '01 C5 M6 then added a '07 A6 (also from the same dealer). The rest is history.
BTW don't like the new Camaro

Drifting
I wanted 1 right after high school(1980) my goal in life was to make 8 bucks an hour(LOL) and I could get in the game. But kids (3) life & a IROC Z later still couldnt afford 1.But kids are grown and when I got the C5,I went to look at a C4,but it had a supercharger with a bearing rattle,so they moved it out the way and I test drove the C5.So much better and the rest is history

I always loved and admired the vette. When I was a kid there weren't many vettes around town, but I drooled over every one I saw. When I was 20, my brother bought a new '86, and I loved it, but I didn't think it was worth the money he spent. That was kind of my thoughts until the c5 came out. In '99, I had the chance to ride in 1 and that was all it took to be hooked, but it wasn't until this past year did I even consider buying a sports car when my cousin got an '07 Mustang GT.
I actually started out looking for an '01-2 WS6 'cause I really didn't think a c5 would be in my price range, but while looking on a-trader, a '98 corvette ad came up in my trans am search. I was looking at spending 12-15K on a WS6 and when I saw that I could get a c5 for the same price, I didn't look at another WS6! and the search was ON for my first corvette!
After hours of research, 2 months time, and looking at hundreds of ads, I found her, and we've been happy ever since.

My dad was ALWAYS tinkering with cars(and trucks),,and took me to the local dirt track every Friday night since I was 4 or 5. I grew up a car nut. When I was 18 my dad(who worked shift work at the time) was selling a car,was going to be at work and told the guy he had to leave a car for us while he took our 2nd car to be checked out,,,,it was a Marina blue 66 fast back!! The guy barely cleared the neighborhood when I was pestering mom to "run some errands"!! Me driving, little sis riding shotgun,,and little bro hanging on to the seat backs in the fastback area.I can still see him rolling in to the back when I gassed it a little!! I loved and lusted after a lot of the muscle cars from the era I grew up in,,,but after THAT day,,the vet was the star at the TOP of the Christmas tree!! That drive lit a fire that NEVER went out!! Took me till about 50-51 to get my first one (the mixed up 69/427) that I still have,,and added my FRC a couple of years ago. Once you get bit,,,you NEVER forget!!!

Never liked vettes, always though they were an old man's car...until they came out with the C5 Z06. Or maybe it was because I finally became an old man.

I guess it was growing up around Corvettes and riding in them since I was 7 years old. I got my first at 18, have had one ever since and always will.

Gasoline in the veins here. Always loved dirt bikes, go-karts, and cars. I've had alot of cars (17) for my age (35) but what made me want the Vette was what it has over other cars in the price range. Big power, rear wheel drive, manual trans, big brakes, independent suspension, and not too heavy. The only other cars that have this are exotics-period. I got my first Vette at age 24, it was a steel blue 1990 that I wrenched on myself and got running great with some bolt-on mods. Then I got a 1996 LT4 that got a bunch of goodies-that car dynoed at 330rwhp bone stock and really woke up with heads, cam, tune, headers and exhaust. Now I have the '02 Zo6 and we'll see where that goes-only Kooks long tubes and Haltech so far. I have to admit I've been eyeing C6's and 911's lately though. BTW-all these cars were purchased used with low miles and I generally have come out better in the end than my friends who bought new Accords, Tahoes, Bimmers etc.

Wheels and a motor have been my curse ever since my first lap around the neighbors' farm yard on an abused Cushman powered by an old Maytag laundry machine engine. I was about 10 years old, and I remember the thrill of motion-without-pedaling like it was yesterday. As a teen I would drool every time one of the older kids flew by our house in a Roadrunner, or 'Cuda, Chevelle, Boss Mustang, etc. I started out in high school with a '62 Econline van, which Dad and I modded with a 351 CJ. The custom van thing was hot then, a great ride for impressing the girls, and causing nightmares for their parents....Then it was on to Harley-Davidsons, Jeeps, and in the mid-eighties the street-rod thing really took off. I put about 90K on a '41 ****** coupe I built, and a series of roadsters and pickups came out of my shop after that. Long, long story cut short, about a year ago I noticed how cheap the C-5 Corvette was getting. I always considered vettes as cool cars for rich people who couldn't build their own, but after a drive in a Z, I had to admit there was no way in hell I could put something together that would even approach what that Zo6 could do stock, and OMG what an absolute RUSH it was to drive.....Sold my latest ****** last spring, bought an 'O3Z, and feel like that kid on a Cushman again.

the fender line of the C5. From the front bumper over the top of the front fender, down along the top of the door line, then up over the rear fender.
Then well, V8 American muscle car

There was a 1986 silver and grey malcom conner edition c-4 so that afternoon i followed behind him and just gazed at the way it set up on the road. I knew right then i had to own one.igot a red 1988 then traded it after four years for black 1999 c-5 which i still own,to me no car looks better on the highway

I'm a Mustang lover at hearth. My first car was a 1996 Mustang with a little V6 in it. Then I got an 02 GT, and I loved it even more. After I kind of knew I could afford a Corvette, I bought one a day after my 24th B-day. I fell in love with the lines of the car in a city called Salinas California. I never knew what the car was or who made it because I was like 14 or 15 when I saw it. I figured it was a ferrari or a lambo? Now I have the Vette and a 5.0 stang.

I've wanted one since I was a teenager. I ordered a new 1970 Corvette a couple of years after returning home from Vietnam. Unfortunately, there was about a 6 month waiting period at that time, so I ended up canceling the order and getting a new 1970 SS396 Nova. I found my '98 Vette at a local dealership in 2000 while looking at cars on a Sunday morning. I fell in love with it and ended up buying it on Monday.
