on a new engine this no big deal, but not wise on an old engine/valve train
believe it or not it is possible to get more valve float with dual springs versus high quality beehives (as per GM). i guess it also depends what study you read

Worst advice ever with no explanation to back it up. To the op most people have already said what you need I would like to add I would also insure to do a compression check to insure the rest of the motor is still gtg but 150K isn't crap. I have 204k on my DSM with lots of boost no issues their is no "magic" number that says you can't do it and don't drive it hard that's just ridiculous and shows lack of knowledge. Point being make sure eveything is in working order and get a good tune insure you do the supporting mods and have fun!!!

The guy asked about putting a cam in it, and if that is all he did, it wouldn't be very wise IMO to push a motor that has 150k on it. More power means more stress on all parts. You guys told him it's ok IF you do about another $1000-2000 worth of work to the motor. That is NOT just putting a cam in a 150k motor. That is freshening up everything but the lower end.
And to the OP, if you want to truly gauge the health of your motor, get a leak down test done. A worn out motor can still have good compression.

He should be doing pushrods/springs anyway with the cam so no harm whatsoever.
There is nothing wrong with a dual valve spring...they hold up better after several high rpm trips.
LS1s are good motors but with that cam i would also be putting in a new oil pump/timing chain kit/springs/pushrods. Finish it off with a good tune and you will be in for a big grin on your face.

Wow... we've put a Whiplash cam in a 139,000 mile 1999 convertible that also had a Procharger P1SC... made 507rwhp and is still running strong almost 3 years later.
I know ECS have done MANY heads/cam high mileage Vettes that are still running hard over 5 years later.
Dual springs as well... so much misinformation in this thread...

If you do and I believe you will be fine, I would pick-up a decent set of used LS6 heads in the for sale section here.
These along with a good set of Patriot Gold springs and good exhaust and then a Dyno tune - you should be good for 400+ RWHP!
Enjoy and keep us posted on the results -
Thanks,Matt

Do it. You may have to spend more than someone putting it on a newer engine to replace some worn parts, but the bottom end of the LS1 motor is very stout.

As most have said, so long as you upgrade all of the valvetrain, get a good tune, and have the other supporting mods (timing chain, oil pump etc) You should be fine. I would be cautious of what type of cam you select as that (and the tune) will greatly effect the cars manners and drivability.
Don't just throw a monster cam in, and expect it to remain relativley stock in street manners. I would try and take a ride in some other vettes that are cammed and see what you like.
