Should I sell my FRC to get a Z06?
Just like the title says I'm weighting out my options. I would love to have a Z06, but financially am I better off modding my FRC instead. I obviously already have the MN6, Z51 suspension, I have LT headers and cold air intake etc. I want people's opinions on if it is worth it or should I just be happy with what I have now. Is there enough of a difference between the two to make it worth my while. Thanks.

You asked:
IMO The FRC can equal the Z with only a few more Mods, suspension, manifold, etc.
You might be a few $$ ahead from the start with a base Z but modding up to and past Z standards is all the fun.
Bottom line is what you want to do. In the end you will have a fast FRC whether it is a Z or not. Just don't try to pass a FRC off as a Z06 unless you have your flame suit on!

Keep it and keep building it. You already have $$ into it just take it to the next level of mods all around.

If you are happy with the FRC keep it and add some mods to it. Now if you were talking on getting a C6 Z I would sell the FRC in a flash.

Get the Z!

no way your probably already just as fast as a Z if not faster... No joke my intake exhaust C5 is about dead even with a stock Z, and I even left a few in my rearview!

Would depend on how you really feel about the FRC,,and just why you would want a Z06. You probably are on par now with a stock C5 Z. Now if you need the status of a Z,,go for it!!To an outsider,,FRC or Z06,,no big deal,,it's a Corvette. Now to Corvette folks,,at least for some there is a bit of status in saying "it's a Z06".Novice vetters could mistake for a Z,,unaware about the brief run of the FRC!! To me my FRC is cool,,I feel it's kind of an exclusive club because of the relatively low numbers. As stated,,a C6 Z is another story!!

Zo6.
The M12 tranny is the equivalent of putting 3.90 diff gears in you M6 car.
The thinner glass, Ti exhaust, the guage cluster looks better than a base C5, lots of internal engine updates happened in '01 like better rod bolts and lifters, etc
Long list of good things about the Z.
Nothing against FRCs..

I'd keep the FRC and mod it for better performance.

I am not a huge fan of the Z06... I do not care if it is the C5 ZO6 or the C6 Z06... It is kinda of like the Ford Mustang Lines...
Mustang GT ---- Base Corvette
Mustang Rouse ---- Corvette Z06
Mustang Saleen (Supercharged) --- Corvette ZR1
Now I do under stand that when your talking New verses New, The corvette is 20k more than the Mustang GT. The ZR1 is about 40k more than the Saleen.... Although here is my point...
I had a Saleen SC 525 RWHP I got the car because no one in my area had the Saleen (at the time). I wanted to be totally different from every mustang owner in my area. Although if I was smart (at the time) I would have just had a GT mustang and had done Mods to it which could have out performed the Saleen.
That what we need to look at here. If your buying the Z06 just so you can say you have one, that is up to you. Although if your looking at car verses car... Corvette verses Corvette I would keep yours and do the things to it to out perform the C6 ZO6 and laugh at them after words for spending 70k on a Z06!!!!

keep it
you could answer this just like the question of C5 vs C6. Is this change about performance? Did you mod your FRC? Would you mod the Z06?
I'd say about 85% or more of the Z06 owners have upgraded them with C6 springs, or clutches, or sway bars, or whatever. If you are going to do the same thing, you can do it with the FRC and save yourself the money of changing cars. Bone stock the two cars are different. Once you start modding them the differences become negligible in a hurry. If you aren't on the track (in a serious way) the weight difference is totally negligible.
Unless there is some other reason to trade up, keep yours and upgrade it.

depends on your time horizon....
buyers of used cars don't usually want mods.
So if you mod your FRC you reduce the number of potential buyers.
People who mod cars generally are fussy about what they add.
this further reduces the pool of prospective buyers....some favor super chargers, some favor tuurbo chargers, some favor displacement, cams and heads....then there are the brand devotees within each of these...
If you mod, expect it to take longer to sell and don't expect to get your cash out of it.
On the other hand, a Z-06 had good performance out of the box and with some easy bolt ons ( that can be removed prior to sale) can be improved.
