From what I found the C6 Z06 washers are stronger, but not as strong as the DTE ones, which are also designed to work with their carbon clutch pack kits. I already had the c6Z06 clutches so I kept the washers.

Even with 19k miles I will bet you at least one of your washers is cracked. Here is mine at 25k, owned since 16k miles. If you are in the area of having the diff opened up, I would replace the washers.

I just picked up a 3 rib diff with 2.73 gears for almost nothing. The carrier is all I need to change over from my current diff (besides reshimming) to put 3.42s in the 3 rib, correct? I thought all the cases were the same, just the carriers in them were different.

The diff will be getting C6 Z06 internals and possibly 300m shafts.

No... Cases are matched to the carrier. 2 series carrier has 2 series case, and 3 to 3. The magnetic speed sensor is in the wrong place otherwise. 3-series case is centered on the rib, 2-series case is offset to the outside.

I don't have good reference pictures on this computer, so i'll use ebay.. Take a look at the location of the sensor body with reference to the rib in the case..

3-series carrier case:

2-series carrier case:

May be a silly question, but I have picked up a 3.15 rear, can I rebuild it with 4.11's ?

TIA Adrian

You can make the internals stronger but the weak link are the gears.

The 3 series and the 2 series have different cases. You can install the 3 series carrier into a 2 series case but the speed sensor will NOT line up correctly (your speedometer will not work).

Does anyone know where these parts go in the Diff? Little confused.

Output shaft seal (inner) 19206242
Output shaft seal (outer) 12455045

Thanks?

Read all 6 pages, but slightly confused on series 2 vs series 3 cases. Is a 2001 Z06 a good candidate for the C6 Z06 guts?

Those seals go into the back of the manual transmission.

There were 3 differentials that came in C5 (1997-2004). 2.73, 3.15 and 3.42's. Yes, any Z06 diff is a good candidate for C6 Z06 guts.
