Default Have baby = give up Corvette?

While talking to acquaintence today, I asked how his car was doing. He replied that he had to sell it because his wife had a baby and well, a family man shouldn't have a sportscar.

I told him that when my wife and I had our first born, no car changes were made. I had my 68 vert and a second car that had a back seat and my wife had her 4-door sedan. I found that in many cases, having two cars for myself was less expensive than having one, newer car, since the insurance company knew that I couldn't drive two cars at once and hence, mileage would be distributed between them. And when I had to take one or both kids to the dentist, I didn't worry about a crowded parking lot with lots of door-dinging dingbats.

So, how many of you have a small kid, your C5, and another car in which there's a back seat to throw the car seat?

How many of you thought like my acquaintence and sold your Corvette when your first born came along?

I had my first kid last January. My wife knew I wasn't giving up the Vette!

I currently have a 99 Camaro, 99 Vette, and a Nissan Altima for the wife and kid.

If one goes down I have another for them.

Sounds like it would be a great theme for a Trojan condom commercial!

Well, I have to admit that my 68 and second car were long paid-for when the first kid came along. It's certainly possible that had I had huge car payments, the story may have been different, so I'm not trying to say that everyone can always keep the "hot" car.

JW, it looks like you're all set!

Nice shots, 0331!

I feel pretty lucky. I had the vette for just over a year when we had our first. I drive the vette daily in the summer and drive my truck in the winter. my wife has an equinox. both are 4wd which is great for the snow. I can't wait til Em is big enough to go for a ride int the C5...she's only 14 months right now.

We raised the kid and sent her off to college before I bought one, otherwise, she may have wanted to drive it.

I have 2 small kids and they argue over who gets to ride in the Vette. My wife is pretty laid back and would never ask me to get rid of the Vette. My wife has a Denali XL to lug all of us around. I have a Toyota Previa that I use for my business. I used to drive when I needed to take both of my kids at one time. It is a great vehicle because I really don't care about it and can take it anywhere. Problem is my kids think it's embarrassing to be seen in the "stinky" van.

Now, I received a 1998 Prelude SH w/ low miles from my father (for free, can't beat that price!) that can fit both of my kids.

I consider myself a family man and my wife and I have three children ages 4 and under and I have a Z06 and a factory five roadster. We also have other vehicles to carry everyone in but I can't imagine someone selling their corvette just because they have a child. My wife and I specifically wanted two-seaters just so we could get away once in a while alone!!!

If you can afford to have a Vette and still take care of the kid(s) that's great but as you know kids come before all
