Which MP3 player is easiest to use in the C5?
I know you've got your Ipod's and all kinds of other assorted MP3 players. Plus, I have read about all the adapters to hook an MP3 player into the existing Bose harness.
So, my question is - in your opinion, which MP3 player seems best suited for a 2004 C5 with the stock Bose system? I believe the Ipod harness will allow the Ipod to remain fully charged, so that's a big positive for the Ipod. Just curious if I'm overlooking other issues?
I already have tons of MP3's so I do not need to be buying any more right now. Plus, I use standard PC computers, no Macs. Not sure if that makes a difference for usage with Ipod.
I'm concerned about things like:
* overall ease of use while driving
* size of the display font on the player (bigger is better IMHO)
* accessibility of songs
* mounting options for the player
* ability to upload all my existing MP3's
* portability - how easy is it to take out of car and use personally
* battery charge - does the MP3 player battery stay charged
Many thanks for all opinions...........

Does it matter if the Ipod is hard drive or flash drive? I have read some comments about hard drive not being good for jogging and driving.
thanks

I use the iPod Touch with the iPod2Car and it works great.
Mounted in my ashtray, Easy to use while driving, Charges while in use, plays music, movies etc.. Doesn't skip or anything like that.

Ipod Nano 5th generation, 16gb. larger screen very thin and is easy to use. $199.'s Set up play lists and the software is easy to get use too. It's very rugged * IF YOU USE A CLEAR CASE, if not just looking at it will scratch it Battery will last 24 hrs as long as you don't keep the back light on playing with it. I find that with play lists you don't need to look at the unit all the time, you know the music and can just drive, I don't carry any cd's in my car now and have almost 2000 songs and that's over 4 days of non stop music. With IPod2 car you can use the radio to controls to operate the Nano....

That's nice.
Can you switch songs and stuff WITHOUT having to look down into the ashtray?

Ipod here mounted in a Pro Clip mount with an AVIC flip screen
You'll need Ipod 2 car to hook up to the stock player. Mine charges direct to the console power socket.

Man, why would you need a Ipod? That radio must have MP3 capability, no?
Also, is that radio in the stock 1.5 DIN slot? If so, what radio is it? I really like the look of that.
thanks

Munch did you install it yourself? And where did you get it. I looked on crutchfield and it says it is not compatible with our car. Also how did you get the mount in the ashtray.
Dude that is soooo sweet. I will set mine up like this but I need some more info if you can.
Peace

A few questions if you don't mind.
Is the Itouch always charging even when the car is off and the key is removed? There have been quite a people on the forum that have/had this problem with the ipod2car, which eventually kills the battery after a few days.
And did you have to modify the ashtray in anyway to make the itouch fit in there?
And last, did you use the PXHGM4 cable connector to plug from the ipod2car into the back of the radio? Just making sure I get the right parts before I get into the project.
Again, great job, just the install I was looking for ...
