The sad part is that all cars are very simple to steal.

A rollback truck or repo-wrecker can ****** your car in seconds, take it to a secluded place and do whatever they wish to it. Alarms are great, and even GM did a good job of making it a bit more difficult to just drive it off, but if "they" want your car, it is theirs.

Study on !!

I believe that theory also, if they want it, they will get it. I/we (fire station) actually watched two flat-bed tow trucks work their thieving magic on two Benz, maybe 8 years ago, during a festival in downtown New Orleans. We thought they were towing the vehicles for parking problems, but they actually were stealing them .

Back in the late 80s I learned my lesson the hard way. I owned a IROC Z Camaro. I commuted by train and had to park the car in a commuter parking lot. I had "The Club", a stereo theft prevention unit as well as an alarm and kill switch. The car was broken into 3 times and never stolen. After the third time repairing all the damage the amateur thieves (kids?) caused and paying the insurance deductables, while watching my renewal rates increase, I just wish they would have stolen it.

Granted, I have a more emotional bond to my non-daily driver Corvette than I did to that ICOC Z, however if it's your daily driver, drive it like it's meant to be driven, park it where you need to, maintain your insurance coverage and try to relax and enjoy it. Also, remember to negotiate your insurance every time you renew. Your car depreciated since the last renewal and your rate should not stay the same since you are insuring less in terms of a replacement cost. Something the insurance companies tend to forget each year.

The best thing to do would probably not to park it somewhere where a lot of cars get stolen...get a beater car for such places...Indy

As far as dreaming about our Corvettes, No Way!
I have had Vettes since I was 18, I'm now 56. I Love Corvettes but have Never dreamt about any one of them.

"The Club" is a great theft deterrent...but only when it's in your hand and you're standing behind the guy trying to break into your car

put it in neutral and bounce it off the rev limiter for about 2 hours. then it will probably be still for quite some time.

i know i can break into my hardtop in about 30 seconds using a coat hanger. the alarm does go off though when i open the door.

in my opinion the only way to go if you are really **** about it being taken. you can have the thing notify you by cell phone or email if it moves from where you park it, etc. if they want it, they'll get it, at least with the lojack you have a real good chance of getting it back. if they aren't kids, they will park it in a remote location for a while just to see if someone has tracked it. if no one shows up after a day or so, they figure they are safe and will move it to another location to chop it or whatever.

It was a great prop for my Halloween costume back then. I dressed as the Cop who made those stupid commercials selling it.

A nice high powered rifle while you sit in the tree in the distance watching someone trying to break in or steal your car....now that would be awesome....

I guess you don't need grammar, punctuation or spelling skills to get into college anymore?

Luckily, I think the rest of us are mature and intelligent enough to figure out what he was trying to say without being a ***** about it.
