you guys notice this?..........
Seems most people cannot give away a C5 with an automatic and hi miles. 6 speeds sell for thousands more! resale market is getting worse!

Just depends on the buyer - I would not own a standard.

I actually saw the opposite when I was buying both mine and my wife's car. I will ONLY own a auto, and had a HECK of a time finding one in the color I wanted for a reasonable price. I found LOTS of manuals!

In todays poor economy a six speed corvette isn't selling any better than a ten speed bike. Plus for a long time now, Bowling Green orders have always been for a greater amount of A4 automatics. Unless there's something I'm missing, a six speed is only worth more to someone who wants a manual transmission Vette ?

The same holds true for manual vs auto Miatas. You can't give away an automatic Miata. However, the reasons may be different. Typically, automatics are purchased by older folks and generally, the older folks can afford to buy a newer C6, while a majority of twenty thirty somethings prefer MN6s. My son is 19 and he won't go near an automatic, whereas my daughter prefers them.

After talking with my used car and wholesale managers,I have found that just the opposite is true.Neither one will keep a manual vette and give about $4000 less in trade for one as the majority of buyers do not want a 6 spd.

Another thing to consider is that the auto trannies in C5s don't last nearly as long as do the MN6s. High-mileage A4s, if they haven't been rebuilt/replaced, will probably cost the new owner some big bucks in the near future, regardless of maintenance schedules. At least that's what I've seen here in this forum over the years.

Look around the forum and you will see literally tons of posts about manual tranny and clutch problems!I dont see that they are any more reliable, specially since alot of A4 owners ignore maintainence on their transmissions until there is a problem.

a corvette without a manual 6 speed is like a plane with auto pilot you not realy driving the car its driving you (just being real) i don't care who faster I just want total control I want to be able to dump the clutch not power brake it
