C5 compared to 2010 SS Camaro?

You just contradicted your previous post. Besides, it's well documented that a SS Camaro easily outperforms the SRT version Challenger, and for thousands less $$$. I love the look of the Dodge, until you get up close and see how huge that thing is. Pony cars should not be land yachts.

new camaro is extremely popular with the younger generation which is a MAJOR plus for GM. for me? i'd rather have the C5 simply because of weight and feel. i really hate driving heavy cars.

i have an 09 Challenger 6 sp. SRT8, the Corvette will outperform it hands down, BUT the Challenger draws attention like no other, wicked burnouts, and a s^$t load of fun
I prefer the Challenger, i think it's because of the fantastic job they did on the retro
Everyone loves an old Mopar

It seems no one has driven a Camaro SS yet.
However, I saw one yesterday at my local Chev dealer while getting my C5 oil changed for her winter hibernation.
Pretty impressive to look at but I find it a little too boy racer. I suppose the more mature C5 owners (like myself) will not be attracted to the Camaro SS, IMHO.
Please don't flame me, but I would prefer the 2011 Mustang GT with the new V8 coming out. It will give the Camaro SS a real run for the
money!!
3.7L V6 to be rated at 315 horsepower: Same as 2010 GT; 15 hp more than Camaro V6
2011 Mustang GT to be rated at 400 horsepower, will get increase in 2012
2011 Mustang GT to get 6-speed transmission and variable valve timing
2011 Mustang GT Track Pack to include Brembo brakes
2011 Mustang GT 5.0L V8, 6-speed, track pack, Brembo brakes ran even with 414-hp BMW M3, which is 200 lbs lighter, at GingerMan Raceway in South Haven, Michigan
2011 Shelby GT500 to get Aluminum Block
Next special edition: 2012 Boss

I might be in the minority here but I wouldnt mind having a Camaro SS ...IN ADDITION to my vette. Like everybody else I couldnt see trading my vette for a Camaro. And the reason the Camaro and Challenger are large are because people are bigger. As nice as it would have been for GM to design the current car the same size as the old F-Body, it wasnt gonna happen because people are much larger now than when the old car was out. The newer car has a lot better entry/exit than the F-Body but the F car is still kinda stylish.

I Know you're misinformed! I have read, heard, and seen differently. I do like the looks of the challenger, but Dodge will never be considered over any chevrolet, except the Chevette. This is just my opinion and I am biased
Go to www.insideline.com and they tested the Camaro, Challenger, and Mustang. The Camaro won, hands down. It may be hard to understand, but the Camaro is a muscle car, the Corvette is a sports car. They shouldn't be compared, they are in totally different classes. I prefer my C5 over the Camaro, but I do like the Camaro. To each his own, but you cannot discredit that in the pony/muscle wars the Camaro has taken the lead. I love Chevrolets and I'm happy to see the Camaro pull out front. I hope the Camaro can do to the muscle car wars, the same as the Corvette does to the sports cars (offering best performance and the smallest price in its class).

I have been driving the Camaro before a dealer has ever seen one on the lot. I have had a lot of seat time in the SS and I feel it is extremely difficult to compare a Corvette with a Camaro. The ride feel of each do not compare. The Camaro's steering is extremely loose whereas the Vette can turn on a dime. The suspension is pretty tight but nowhere near a Vette. It is heavy, but you do not feel it, it does not drive like it looks. I mean it has power but a different kind of power than the Corvette. I feel we're just comparing mangos to peaches here, two completly different kinds of fruits, but equally enjoyable in their own ways... WHAAAAAAT

Just got back from SEMA, they had some really nice Camaro's there, don't know about performance but just on looks alone a custom Camaro looks very nice, BUT!!! if I had to choose between a C5 and a Camaro, the C5 wins. I've said this before I like the Camaro but I love the Corvette.

Magazine have recorded 13.0 sec 1/4 mile and many private owners will better that so I would say that it is quicker than a stock C5. Stock C5s seem to fall in the mid 13 sec 1/4 mile range. I read the handling is not the great, for one because of the oversize wheels and maybe partly to do with weight and CG. They say the challenger outperforms it, this sounds subjective to me, i guess I'd have to see that for myself to believe it. They are both large bricks. I had a new challenger parked next to me at work and it made my vette seem positively puny. If you like the styling, its cool and it should be quicker than the C5 given comparable modifications. Like any LS engine, the LS3 will respond well to headers, cams and such.

Wow you're a genius. That 540 Hp Mustang is a second slower in the 1/4 than the 505Hp Z06 so what did you mean by no one catching it? I'm confused 12.8 to 11.8 hmmm did you not learn math?
