Sold C6Z and looking at buying C5Z again!
I bought a new 08 Z06 and sold it after 15 months. Just did not think the car was that exciting to drive. Now thinking about going back to C5 Z06. I love the FRC lines and had four of them 99,01,02 and 04.
Just wondering if many people came back to the C5Z after owning the C6Z. Probably covered in older threads but I couldn't locate.

Right on and welcome back,
I can't hang with the new Z06's Station wagon like glass hatch out back
and the cadillac like crome trim going on in the inside,
The C5 Z06 has that OLD Skool button top like some of the older muscle cars have
I just paid mine off and now I'm going to mod it
By the time I'm done the only C6 Z06's I'll see will be a dot in my rear view mirror,
Ti coilovers,2 piece rotors, ti headers and cat back,(Custom) carbon front end, began losing weight 65lbs so far and looking to be in the 2900lb range when it's all said and done
Bon

I would not go from a C6Z to a C5Z. I think I recall one or two people going back to the C5Z, but most stay in the C6Z.

Don't get me wrong, the C6Z can pull like a freight train when temps are good and ecm isn't pulling timing. I woudl never discourage anyone from owning a C6Z. I just felt the C5Z fit me like a glove and the C6Z felt like a boot. I enjoyed evevery C5 FRC I owned and always smiled when I drove them. The C6Z just never got my blood flowing.
The purpose of this thread was not to put down the C6Z.

I think most who come from a C6Z back to a C5Z was because they couldn't afford the C6Z in the long run. It is pretty much a better car all around. I would probably upgrade to one if i had that kind of expendable money. I would have a tuff time selling my C5Z once and if i ever do pay it off because after that here come the mods. Once you start modding though anything is possible. Stock vs Stock unless it is a tight cornered track the C6Z will walk away from the C5Z everywhere on it.
C5Z does have a certain feeling to it, raw is the best way to describe it.

Pretty much true about on track performance especially at places like Road America. My C5Z with Hoosiers would see maybe 145 on front straight. C6Z with Hoosiers would see about 155 with similar exit speed on of 14. The C6Z had issues with high intake air temps and coolant temps. Stock tunes pull a lot of timing when they have been get hot in the C6Z. I bought an extra ecm for the C6Z but never installed it. Never tracked it, never drag raced it. Just not motivated.
I also always felt like I knew what the C5Z would do in any situation, not so much with the C6Z. I liked the SC F1 tires on C5, hated the RF's on C6.

same reason why some people buy a C4 Grand sport over a C5 Z06... tehy just like it more.. different people have different priorities..
i.e. why would anyone buy a Prius?!?!

With the way prices on the two choices are, I could see going from a C6Z to a C5Z and putting 30+K back in my pocket.
The interior is not that much worse(thousands of dollars worse), and I can't drive my 04 anywhere near the limit anyway. You could pick up another nice Vette and have two for the price difference, That's what I did
96 LT4 CE Vert, and an 04 Z16 modded, both mint and cost less than one C6Z, is the C6Z a better Vette, hell yes. But for me it's about fun factor and appeal.
The first C6 to impress me on looks and performance is the 2010 Grand sport, Vert......major WOW factor.

I think most everyone has a point here. As an owner of a C5Z as well, its hard to break away from the rawness of this car. Also the looks of the C5Z is unique and you wont see them as often in everyday driving. Having it paid off is nice too. Personally I wouldnt mind owning a C6Z if for no other reason than just having the opportunity. Im not losing any sleep over not having one. To each his own, buy what you can/want!

Did the C6Z have that raw race car feel?

I think Chalky's being perfectly honest. The only reason to ditch a C6Z for a C5Z is preference. Economically, the money you lose in selling a 1.5 yr. old car that you bought new, would disuade most people, even considering the cheap availability of C5Zs.
