Auto Owners, How you liking the a4, overall?
#62
I've had my A4 01 since this past February and with 17,000 miles now. I love the A4. I get stuck in some awful traffic and the A4 is just great.
I did drive my buddies M6 02 yesterday and found it delightful but for a commuter car where I live, I'd have needed 2 clutches already.

However the 3.15's being shorter will get you off the line faster.

Whatever you got...I'll make it MUCH BETTER!
just curious how you guys like the 4 speed auto in your c5's?
i have a 4 speed in my c4. im buying a c6, ideally wanted the 6 speed auto but found a good deal on the 4 speed.
the c6 a4 is a beefed up c5 tranny. i figured i would get some quality input from you guys.
thanks.

I love the automatics.
If you tune em right, they're more fun than the sticks.
Call me any time.

Coming from 3 previous 6-speed LSX cars, I'm missing the manual a bit. The auto is great from a dig and straight line, but I miss it dearly in the twisties. I'd like to swap an M6 with my A4 if some one was willing to do the swap... lol.

When you said keep up did you mean the quality of ride? I probably misunderstood something, after I red this post I thought for a second that you meant you kept up with c5 and c6Z as far as performance goes

Safety Car
I dont drive a lot of manual cars but I love the C5 A4. It's pretty strong and I drive my car daily and pretty hard. My day also consists of a lot of stop and go driving and through hills. I mean it won't beat the feel of using a manual but for me driving it everyday it gets the job done and doesn't complain.

A4
I have a 2002 A4 that I purchased in 2003. The transmission has been no issue at all. I have drag raced it several times, but do not abuse it. It does have a Corvettes of Westchester tune by Chuck and the shift points have been altered and firmed up. It has run a 12.93 @ 110 with GY run-flats, but I've always felt there's more in it. I have Michelins on it now, so I might try it one more time to see if they make a difference. If you know what you're doing, an auto is a pleasure to drive and a lot more consistent. BTW, I have a 2:73 rear and have gotten a little over 30 MPG highway...

Can anyone elighten me about how tough a job or expensive a gear swap would be from 2.73's for 3.15's for instance?

I am really satisfied with my A4 with 3.15 gears... It is my daily driver (I am not a commuter anymore, pleasure only)...
I DO plan on getting a tune... And I do manually use the gears--a lot. (carefully, of course! )... Not as good a some paddle-shifters, but FUN!
