Default LT Headers- Reasonable HP Expectations?

I have a 2002 Z06 which EnglandGreen recently dyno tuned at 374RWHP. The only mods were as follows: CAI Intake (homemade with KN Filter); Magnaflow X-Pipe; and Corsa Extreme Cat Back System.

Stephen and Jason both indicated that I had a fairly healthy basically stock Z06 to yield the 374 RWHP.

I am contemplating having LT Header (with Cats) installed by EnglandGreen and having them re-run the dyno tune.

With 374RWHP already - What can I realistically expect ( no BS) to gain in RWHP with the addition of a LT Header system?

I am guessing 385 RWHP - Obviously for the dollars being spent I would prefer to see 390RWHP plus.

Anyone ?

My guess is around 385rwhp, possibly even 390rwhp. The highest we have seen on a bone stock Z06 with CAI & full exhaust through the Ti catback is 395rwhp on a Dynojet 248x.

I was under the impression that you could easily get 20whp with long tubes.

Long tubes in themselves only contribute around 15hp to these cars on a stock engined bolt-on car. If you are doing the install and tune yourself it might be worth the cost IMO. But if you are farming it out you must ask yourself is $1,200-$1,500 for the headers + install and re-tune.

Depending on where you are doing it you could be well over $2K for 15hp. Might be good for a tenth or two in the 1/4 mile. If it seems worth it to you that's your call.

that's true but if you plan to do anything to your car other than an intake and a catback, long tubes are really where you want to begin..

I made 383.3 w/ ARH LTs and CAI @ EG but I have no stock baseline numbers to compare it to.

I made 393 with LG Pro's /w cats & Blackwing through the Ti's. I would think 15-20hp is reasonable with the addition of long tubes and new tune.

If you go with the LG Pro's and high flows at least 20 HP.

My 2001 Z baseline dyno run with stock everything except K&N filter in the stock box was 331rwhp. With Blackwing, CF bridge, LG Pro LTs & tune she bumped to 380rwhp. Everything else still stock including Ti exhaust.

An 01 will respond a bit better to bolt-ons than an 02+ b/c the factory airbox and pup cats were restrictions that were changed for 02 to help increase the output.

Thanks everyone for responding to my post !

I am figuring LT Headers with cats ( either LG Pros or American Racing) will bump my present 374 RWHP to the range of 380 to 390 RWHP - likely around 385 RWHP.

On the high end- it sounds like 390 to 394 RWHP is possible while maintaining a safe tune.

Sounds pretty healthy but I would discount the cat-back exhaust because the gains there are pretty minimal. Long tubes would probably bump it up about 10-15hp. The stock TI is less restrictive than people think. My 01Z has Blackwing, modified radiator shroud, Vram power duct,Stainless works headers, high flow cats , X-pipe and tune for 392hp-387lbsft. Im all good!!

I'd change the cam at the same time to get a power increase that's noticeable. Re tunes after every little mod must add up unless they give big price cuts on the adjustments for repeat business.

In Houston you get a fine for not running cats- I know people who've been pulled over and the LEO checked underneath for cats. Serious fine I think.

Regardless- the cats are there to reduce the pollution my kids are going to have to deal for years to come. I'm sticking with them

In addition, removing hi-flow cats will not yield a sigificant increase in performance. I'd leave them in.

There was an article comparing LG Pro-series with and without hi-flo cats. No reason not to have them unless it's a track only car.
Corvette Fever or one of those.
