Thanks for all of the replies. Not sure which way to go yet with this radio stuff. I'm not a big audiophile type, but I like the touch screen... but I also like keeping things OEM on a car like this... Maybe the Factory CD player (not changer) is the way to go...and should be cheap used... and no need for any adapter...?

Thank you all for the kind replies and offerings of help/knowledge. Great to come to a new forum and receive a warm reception and find lots of people willing to help a newbie out. I am leaning towards the factory OEM CD head unit right now. Had a member offer me one for $100 shipped... just need to work out the details.

No model year C5 Z06 came with a factory CD changer option. I searched around and found all the factory parts, harness, mount, changer, etc. and it was a very easy bolt-in job. However, halfway through the installation I wondered why I was bothering at all. Let me explain. A short time after you start driving your car and reading the posts, you will get stung by the mod bug. The most common first mod is to change the exhaust. Once you do and hear how great this car really sounds you will stop listening to your stereo. So take your money and time and buy a new exhaust system first.
Aside from that, enjoy your new car and good luck with it. You came to the right place by joining the forum. You can't have more fun for the dollar!

One of my first mods was to install an auxiliary input for my MP3 player. It worked well and I used it for a while, but as another poster stated, the engine sounds so good I rarely listen to the stereo any more. The exhaust is my soundtrack.

Thanks! Yes the car is awesome. Its my 1st corvette and for it to be a Z06 as my 1st one is like a dream for me as well. I have an Audi S4 as a DD and it is a great car but performance wise its night and day.
