12 years from original Delco Battery
I bought my 97 from my boss several months ago, and just the other day it started to crank slowly. The guage read near 14 volts so I figured that the battery was finished. I took it out and went to get a replacement, the date stamp on the battery was January of 1997. 12 years sounds like a pretty good run for a battery. My boss always stored the car with a battery tender, and the car only has 28K miles, but 12 years is a pretty good run for a battery

. If that the original, not only did you have a lot of luck with it lasting so long but you dodged the bullet on leaking battery posts. The original AC Delcos have killed a number of Vettes
Luckily mine just leaked on the garage floor not my car

AC Delco batteries still are among the very best. Their 50 month free-replacement warranty is second to none in the battery business.
I traded in my OEM battery at 7 years, not because it was bad, but because I was being conservative.

That is pretty damn good battery life in a vette. In my old foxbody mustang which was a 90 the origional battery lasted till fall of 2005 when i had the stereo on for an hour or so and it wouldnt start it up, jumped the car and ran around for about a month or so till i finally decided to replace it.

That's great that the battery lasted that long. Hope your next one does the same.

I would be happy if I could last 12 minutes.
