[Z06] Lowered guys? Does everyone scrape?

It seems like I scrape over the littlest dips. Hahah love how it looks but damn!! I know the air dam has a purpose but has anyone ever taken them off and with a fine saw cut maybe an inch off of each one. It will still serve its purpose and would give you an inch more of clearance

Mine dosent but I dont have cut bushing, just as low as stock bolts will go. I only scrape the air dam when backing out of my driveway.

Yep,mine does, but I put the fat rollers on the front to go easy on the frame.
Keeping the front tires air press up and the gas tank full really helps to keep the scrape to a min.

I'm stock height and scrap getting out of my drive...great picture below but waaay to much crap on the roads around here for that front end to last! You'd have to scrape the road kill, trash, etc off the front end daily

Burning Brakes
The middle worries me more.
I am lowered on stock bolts as far as it will go, but no cut bushings. Scrapes quite a bit, but much more of an annoyance for me around here where they have raised sidewalks and no real entry openings is scraping the center of the car. I will pre drive to places in my truck first to see if it has one of these type of bottom/exhaust killer entries. I do have skid plates on the front bars too of course.
All the streets near the beaches around here have these damn 8" high and seriously like 5 foot long speed bumps every 200ft. They are murder, I don't even try to drive my car on the beachfront roads anymore. Motorcycle only. I have almost gotten high centered on them before.

I've seen some pretty significant damage done on cars that are lowered beyond what can be done on stock bolts.
I'll admit our cars look very sweet all slammed and snit, but not at the expense of headers ending up with holes in them at the collector, wheel wells rubbed through and rear brake ducts missing because the rear tire is shoved so far up inside the car.

So I learned a lesson - no go over speedbumps, or anything that isn't flat. Shocking
Since then I've lowered my car by cutting 2/3 stock bushings, longer rears in the back, and *gasp* no additional damages.
If people are taking out wheel wells and punching holes in their exhaust, well, me thinks they're not fully utilizing the thing sitting inside their skull
I agree 100%. I think C5s look amazing lowered, not slammed, but lowered 1-2", but I'm not willing to deal with the real-world downsides to lowering the car that much. I'd rather know I can easily clear a speed bump than *always* have to hit inclines at a 45* angle so I don't tear something off.
ahhh, 4x4 alert
Other than that, looks hawt

When I bought my Z it was lowered on aftermarket bolts by the previous owner and I loved the look. But it rode like crap! I drove it home on a 6 hr drive and my back actually was sore the next day. I was also told by some forum members that the rake was incorrect. So I raised the rear about 3/4", didnt touch the front and now I love it. It rides normal and I think still looks pretty good. It scraps coming in and out of my driveway but I have those crappy gutter type driveways here so most would scrap. Never scraped in the center of the car though and I've gone over some pretty decent sized speed bumps. But the front airdam does drag on most driveway entries but I think that is typical. I think it helps to have the 18"/19" tire-wheel combo too.

A couple tips I have found useful especially on my sloped driveway: Come at it from the passenger side if you're riding solo. Your body weight added to the driver's side really does make a difference and common sense says to do all your braking BEFORE you hit the obstacle so you're not pushing the front end down even more by the braking. If all else fails you can buy some bolt or weld on rollers for around $75.00.
