A lot of options and a lot of vendors willing to help you. All depends on how much you want to spend...

Waxer garage queens are happy with them. Anyone that has to drive a C5 at night in the country wonders how they are even legal. Being so low to the ground does not help, if you don't have fog lights get them.
Plenty of vendors here to help from a simple bulb swap to total HID projector conversions.

Donkey, funny-stuff.
I agree, before I got my car, I had read about how pitiful the lights were and I was skeptical. I didn't think they could be so bad as the car was a Corvette after all, but after driving that first night, it was truly dangerous how dim and terrible the light coming out of the stock lights was/is.
I tried 80W bulbs and they were no help. I also put in the 50W foglight bulbs, some help but not much.
Now with the Light Cannon setup along with HID foglights, I'm super at night.
Once I get the Light Cannon 2.0 upgrade with 55W 4300K low beams and an improved cutoff, I'm gonna be super-sweet!

I opted for the silverstar high beam in low beam spot. Cheap and effective. Also uped the fogs from 37w to some kind of blue 50w from pepboys. Im happy with my setup for now. Its about twice as bright as stock and half the price of the cheapest hids. I do get people flashing me occasionaly. Btw also swapped highs in for the low beams using plain ole bulbs in my blazer and the 10w difference is noticable and it didnt cost anything because i have a drawer full of random bulbs.

I bought the stock size, is it 9005/9006? in an 80W as compared to the 55W stock bulb, it was not much help. It was a little brighter but still, by no means, safe.
It is just the thick, distorted, awful lens that does nothing to help the output.

You are right road dog.
We'll quit the discussion now and not worry about spending hundreds of dollars, time, and energy on getting more light onto the road. What was I/we thinking?

Better, not the best it could be. If I could afford it now, I'd be getting Radioflyer's Light Cannons 2.0:

it might be state to state or it could be the color. cops have color cards they can use on your headlights. nothing over 6000k will pass in our state. the reason is blue and red are police/rescue colors. my two favs are the piaa hyperwhite if you stick with a standard bulb or the cheapo HID kits on ebay. they cost less than $100 and last quite awhile. wattage is the other thing you have to watch with HID. the "high watt" versions are bright as hell and just asking for police attention.
