My 02 Coupe has a small (about 2 inches long) crack in the removable top starting from the edge of the passenger side and heading toward the driver's side.

The question is.. have my body guy drill stop the crack, and then paint the top to match the car (Electron Blue)? He already fixed a key scratch for me about a year ago and did an outstanding job matching/blending, so I'm confident in his ability. Or.....

Buy another stock roof from a friend at work who has an extra?

The price will be roughly the same whichever way I go, but my budget will only allow for one or the other.

I think the painted top will look cooler and make my ride a little "different" than most of the C5s out there, but I worry about future durability of the painted top and whether it will hurt resale value (not that I plan to sell any time soon).

What sayeth CF C5 forum?

I have the blue tinted clear roof on my mag red coupe. I like the "airy" feel inside my car. I'm guessing you have a black interior, suggest you take an extended ride in a solid roof painted top car to make sure you like it. It's your car and your call but I would not be concerned about the resale value of the top on an 02. There are too many other more important things to consider than what top it came with or what top is on it when you sell or trade it in.

i plan on painting mine one of these days.. the resale value would be the least of my concerns

I'd get the other. I like the black top. It depends on what look you like.
