Cracked Mag rim
I have a 04 stock c5. I have OEM mag rims. I have one cracked rim and the dealer says it is driving related. The rims are now discontinued and I am looking for a replacement. Anyone have any suggestions?

I had a cracked rim on my 02 this summer. Dealer said they were available for only $850 but he'd sell it to me for for only $650.
I found a used one on this forum for $125. Lots of them on the big auction site. HTH.

Both places mentioned usually have a previously owned replacement at good prices. There are also wheel vendors that have replica's at pretty reasonable prices if you gotta have new.

The cracked spoke on the polished thin spokes is a fairly common issue and there have been many threads on this matter. If it's the Magnesium wheels to which you are referring - this is a new one to me.
I have a set of brand new Z06 Z16 polished wheels for sale if you are interested in purchasing a new set of wheels.

Hi There:
The dealer is full of baloney. He just wants to get rid of you.As others stated try e-bay motors or http://stores.shop.ebay.com/Fparts.When you do replace it torque in 25 lbs. increments in a criss cross pattern with a final torque of 100 ft. lbs.

A good welder could grind it down, and then fill it in no problem. Then once it's polished and re-cleared, you'd never know it's there. It wouldn't change the balance of the wheel. And even if it did, it's nothing that couldn't be weighted out at the other side.

Are you saying that you have the OEM Magnesium wheels and you have a cracked spoke, or are you saying that you have the OEM thin spokes?

Never, Never, weld a cracked wheel!

*shrug* I've been driving around on one for about a year now with no problems. I had a pretty good crack right at the inner bead of one my front thinspokes prob. from a pothole. I took it to my welder, and he ground it open then filled and polished it. The only way I could even tell where the repair was by the clean patch he left. I've kept an eye on it since then, and it hasn't hinted at any problems to date.
