Default Console Texture Repair Question

I was cleaning the interior and noticed that there is a worn spot in the finish on the console.

The "leather look" texture on the ash tray/lighter door in my console has a bad spot that looks like the texture has worn off. Is there a product or treatment out there for repairing the texture coating.

I know some guys have painted the console to dress up the interior's appearance. I'm just looking for some black color product that will restore the texture look.

Thanks,

You really can't... SEM has a texture coating in a spray but this is not even close to the leather grain. My advice would be to either leave it alone or use the texture coating on the entire piece to maintain somewhat more consistent finish. You can spray over the texture coating with SEM vinyl spray. This stuff takes practice and you can experiment with sanding the texture slightly and vary the nozzle distance. If you are not comfortable doing this, just leave it alone. There is no easy fix.

I noticed several scratches and worn spots on my console too. What is the color name for the SEM paint for the black finish that 2001 have?

Google "Leather Magic". They can do an exact match - of course you have to send the console to them. Several forum mebers did this when they did the double DIN mod so that they could install a DVD/NAV system in their C5s.

I just called them and they said they do these repairs for corvettes all the time. They also said I can just send them the ashtray door and they would repair it. Has anybody out there taken the ashtray door off the console?
