2-wheeled compliment to my Z06
About 2 weeks ago I picked up a new 2009 Yamaha VMAX. 200 HP and incredible muscle bike styling. It has about the same power-to-weight ratio as a Bugatti Veyron. The acceleration has to be experienced to be believed. Extremely high quality machine made almost totally of aluminum, magnesium, and titanium. This is the perfect compliment to my 2002 C5Z.

Drifting
I did a test ride on a VMax a couple months ago. Luckily a buddy of mine is a Yamaha dealer so I got to take it out. I ride a lot, dirt, street, track, play bikes, anything you can think of. I can't recall ever having so much fun on a bike as when I rode the new VMax. I had a hard time getting my helmet off after the ride because of the perma-smile that was on my face.
The shop owner told me about a local high performance guy that has one that he has done a few mods on. It's well over 200 hp at the rear wheel and the electronic limiters have been removed. The stock one is fast, I bet the hopped up one will flatten your eyeballs.
Good choice on your purchase. Use Mr Max for the straight line stuff and the Corvette for the corners.
Keep the rubber side down.

Sounds like a sweet ride! I've always liked the Vmax as a muscle-bike and as I get older, the riding position is starting to look more appealing.
I currently have a 2000 CBR929RR complementing my Z06. It's cammed with I/E and programming and will keep up with the newer bikes...

I like the Hayabusa a lot and I thought seriously about buying one several years ago. Two things stopped me though. I can't take that riding position for more than 30 minutes before my hands go numb. The other thing is the appearance. It looks good but it looks like any other sport bike except to those who know about bikes. Also, like other sport bikes, all of the mechanical elements are hidden away under the body work. The fairing on the Hayabusa is definitely there to boost the top speed by providing some aerodynamics, but it does have the downside of hiding everything.
Until I saw the 2009 VMAX about a month ago, I have not seen a bike that interested me since I got rid of my last bike 5 years ago. The Hayabusa came closest. The VMAX is its own class of motorcycle that Yamaha invented in 1985: the muscle bike. The Harley VRod is the only other bike that is even remotely like it but it has 75 less HP and forward controls which I do not like.
The VMAX has no body work with all parts exposed just like classic motorcycles used to be, especially that magnificent 200 HP V4. Up to its top electronically limited speed, it has about the same performance as a Hayabusa or a ZX-14 at least according to the reviews and road tests that I have read. I haven't had a chance to test that conjecture myself (yet).
I have also been told by several Harley riders that the 2009 VMAX is the only bike that they have seen that they would trade their Harley for. Not that I am seeking the approval of Harley riders, but I do think the comments are interesting.

Heres the new one...
Because right before I left Cali to come to Florida to go to EOD school, a pompus douchebag in his C6 vette thought he was on the le mans course on Palomar mountain, CA and hit me head on while i was goin through a corner. Must have thought it was a better idea to drive fast and cross the DY then drive responsibly
