CAGS eliminator's only lasting about a year
I'm on my 3rd CAGS skip-shift eliminator in a 2 year period. Anybody else have the same problem? The little resistor just cooks. This is not a daily driver either. Maybe only getting 2000 miles before they pop. Not a big deal (less than 20 bucks from forum vendor) but very annoying to have to jack the car back up in the air to change it again.

I haven't heard of this. I have 1.5 years and 17k miles on mine with no issues. I'm sure there are people on here with 5+ year-old CAGS eliminators that are doing fine.
Either you got unlucky twice in a row or there is some funny business going on in your car.

I've had mine for three plus years and it's still working fine. Is yours secured directly onto the transmission with the zip tie?
I mounted mine in a rubber isolated ADEL clamp and 1/4-20" bolt to the "ear". That may isolate it enough from the heat/vibrations to prolong it's life...

I'm electrically challenged, however I am capable of soldering one of these high watt resistors in place of the burned out one. I just need to know how to pick out the correct pack at radio shack, can you help me out with how to do that?

That's what I've been using. Got them from Corvettes of Houston. $17 plus shipping. So what I'm asking now is how to pick out the correct higher wattage resistor at radio shack to replace the failed plug and play unit. What color bands or wattage numbers should I look for?
