Corvette Homecoming pictures and thanks to all!
I went today (saturday) to the Corvette Homecoming in Bowling Green, KY. It was a 3 day event and will also be going on tomorrow (sunday) as well. It is off exit 22 off of 65 south in Bowling Green for anybody interested.
I must say...please corvetteforum take note of this event for possibly modeling the Cruise In XI after this. I have never been to such a well organized event!!!
This event was not very big but yet had everything you would of expected from a much larger venue. I went to Funfest last year and I would rank this event even above that! My reasoning is quite simple....THE ORGANIZATION OF THIS EVENT WAS JUST SIMPLY IMPRESSIVE!
Everybody has car shows with judges, but this venue had a unique style. You actually paid to determine which level of participation you wanted to compete at. This plus the fact that you drive your car to the judges and then they go over your car. I felt that was just top notch! Really cool and smart!
Inside the convention center there was plenty of nice cars, vendors selling products and handing out information, seminars were going on, and there was even non related "flee market" type of stuff being sold so that people you were with had a good time as well.
The DJ playing music that you could hear all the way to the end of the parking lot was a very nice feature as well. This plus all during the day they would give you updates as to what was going on and where you could see it. Shoot there was even a lady driving around a golf cart carrying cold beer!!! How is that for service.
I met plenty of new faces and everybody seemed to be having a ton of fun. I definitely will be attending this event again next year and hope that other gatherings such as the Corvette Forum Cruise In might take notice and incorporate many of the ideas used during this event into their own...I really think it would help out a lot!
Enjoy the pictures....and if your local to the area, I highly would recommend visiting it tomorrow or next year!
SPECIAL THANKS TO ALL THE HELPED COORDINATE AND MAKE THIS EVENT EVERYTHING THAT IT WAS!
Jeff

Wow, very nice cars and I agree totally with your assesment of a future cruise. I have attended many shows and driving up to be judged is such a more precise efficient way.

It was a great event and I too thought it was very well organized.
This was our first trip here so we did some tourist stuff as well and had a great time.
Thanks for the pictures.

Looks like a blast with lots of very nice cars. Maybe next year I'll try and get down there for that event.

No Problem!!!
Like I said this show was an absolute blast. So much to take in and such a wide variety of stuff being talked about, sold, and shown.
They had vendors selling embroidered Corvette T-shirts for $5!
There were vendors selling Corvette related items such as car care products, used car parts and hard to find items, rims all of types, assorted misc. corvette accessories (Corvettes of Houston had a big display) and I could go on and on.
For the people and friends tagging along that may not share in the 100% Corvette lifestyle there was plenty for them as well....They had vendors selling non-corvette related merchandise from T-shirts, Herbs, Shirts, Hoodies, Jackets, Jewelry, Hot Tubs, Country Celebrity Recipe Books and more.
There was a special area called the "Corvette Corral" for showing your vette up for sale and there were quite a few there.
For food I was really impressed. 3 different booths selling good stuff and very reasonable prices. I got a cheeseburger for $3 and expected the normal greasy burger on a stale bun lol. NOPE...they cooked them right there on a grill like you or I would do and even upon request gave you at no extra charge, lettuce, tomato and onion! Again, maybe it's just me...but sometimes the most simplest of things such as this really show you care.
I think the only thing that could of made this show any better would of been a place setup with some tables and chairs near the food booths for you to sit at and enjoy your meal. I found many people like myself just sitting on the curb to eat.
Definitely a show worth checking out next year for any of you reading this! Admission was only $10 per person per day or you can pay the $45 for the 3 days (I believe that was the way, but don't quote me on it).
This show was to me definitely a diamond in the ruff sort to speak. Thanks to Jim Sharp who started the original post on here and whom I wish could of made it. There is always next year!
Jeff
This car belonged to a person named "Bob" that I met...I apologize I can't remember the last name. It was a 2003 that looked like my twin (I have an 02).

Outside the Center:
This was sorta cool...from far away it looked like a custom "smoked airbrushed job"....but nah...he was just getting it washed lol!
Of course...ME lol (the blue one)

No problem and let me just say, I saw that you had won at the car show. Iam sure that Jake on the hood definitely helped! Very nice airbrush rendering. From another Jake fan to you....awesome ride my friend!
