got rear-ended today!
Sitting at a redlight when, WHAM, got out and looked. I know it could be worse but dammit. The car that hit me was a 05 altima 3.5. Her hood, headlight, bumper, and grill were toast.
I'll try to attach some pics...
My main concerns are
1) I had paint come off from the rear fenders from the impact, could there be more damage underneath? The chips werent there before and are the exact spot almost on each side, so i am guessing the rear quarter flexed from the impact and cracked the paint.
2) Some of the rear bumper is gouged pretty bad, not scraped but gauged.
3) Also, my tips took alot of the brunt of the impact, can they be polished back or should I have them replaced as well.
What do you think this will cost to fix, or at least what should I be looking for from an insurance company adjuster?
She was at fault and was cited. I just dont want them to try to tell me it just needs a maaco job and i'll be fine.

If it flexed enough to pop paint from both fenders, I'd guess north of $3,800.

make sure your exhaust is straight, if the tips are not aligned right, it may be bent underneath the car, not just at the rear end - in which case even if you realign it at the end, it will keep shifting around afterwards.
sorry about your misfortune.

Make sure you also take your car to 2 good body shops and get your own estimate. Use that to compete with the adjuster they send.
Remember, their adjuster is supposed to give you as little as possible to get the job done. You're not driving a Civic, so don't accept a Civic quality paint job.
Good luck.

The best thing to do is have a 'Corvette experienced' shop pull the bumper (Which I think is a gonner) and then pull both quarterpanels. That leaves the rear support, wiring, rear tube and frame to be checked. Good luck !

Sorry about your car. Make sure you insist they use OEM parts form GM. I just went through a hassle over a hydro-locked motor who the insurance company was going to replace it with a used motor out of a wreak but after doing my own research it was cheaper by $2600 to put in a brand new GM motor. Even though it was cheaper the insurance company still did not want to do it until I had to move up on the food chain at the insurance company. Go figure!

THanks guys. Unfortunately this is an insurance company i have never even heard of. Direct General? I called and they gave me all the claim info, but I prefer Geico, Progressive, All State, etc, name recognition makes me feel better than cheap premiums.
They said it would be 48 hours before their adjuster could even look at it. So as soon as I hear something, I will let you guys know!

Just my 2 cents, but since this is NOT your fault, I suggest that you use your own insurance company. I assume you have collision with a deductible, so you will have to pay the deductible up front. However, YOUR insurance company (who you pay to work for you) will do the hard work. Take it to a Corvette shop and get a perfect repair completed. You will get the deductable back once your insurance company shakes down the other company for the $$$. This should not affect your rates. Ask your agent about this option.
I went thorough this crap last summer with my truck. Good luck.

In the end, YOUR insurance company isn't paying an extra dime for your repairs, the other party at fault is going to pay. I don't see why they would care.

Sorry to see this.
I would agree with those that said to go with a shop of your choosing. I was lucky enough to have a great shop that "went to bat" for me when my vette was backed into. I was given a check by the insurance company to give to the shop, they said it was not enough and got the insurance company to send a 2nd check.
Good Luck.
