Default Huh????

Okay, you're gonna think I'm the most inobservant, braindead dude on Earth. I've had my `01 vert for over a year now and about 5k miles. Today I was tooling down the road about 78, top up, windows down and noticed something fluttering in the rearview mirror. I have very little movement in my neck so I couldn't really tell what it was. Kinda looked like the headliner had seperated from the top or something. When I got home I looked at it closer and saw that there's a black cloth like flap thing that covers the top access lid behind the seats, like a package tray cover kinda deal???? WTF is this thing: confused:? Usually I have the top down when the windows are down and it's never shown itself before, that I've noticed anyway.

That flap covers the rear window when the top is stowed. You did notice that you have a back window, right?

Uh, yeah, but is it supposed to lay over the lid when the top is up?

It covers the back window when the top is folded into the trunk. When the top is up, it lays on the tonneau cover behind your seats. If you drive with the window down, it will flap in the breeze.

Yeah, I suppose, I've been known to do that on occasions. I knew I was gonna catch some flack and comin from Blacksedan I should feel honored. You folks are okay in my book. My comment was meant to amuse, however, not perturb.
Anyway, Blacksedan, thanks for the answer to a seemingly stupid question. If ya don't ask the question ya don't get an answer. This forum is the place to get answers.
Thanks, again

We all lead with our chins now and then. I meant my answer as a light poke - hence the smilie with the finger. I wasn't offended in any way by your answer, I know I can be a wisea$$. No harm no foul in my mind. And - asking questions is not stupid, not asking them and then not knowing is pointless.

Thanks, Randy, I appreciate the help and the piece of mind knowing my top isn't falling apart. My dear old Dad always told me that, "I'd learn something every day, if I paid attention." I really liked the smiley push. They say, "A wisea$$ is better than noa$$at all."
Thanks, again!

The majority of us seem to have fun yanking each others chains. Frankly, I love it. If you want to see some personality battles, go to one of the BMW forums. Those guys will kill their mother if she said something out of line. Total different attitude and approach to life.

I was thinking about a way to velcro it down or something because it is very annoying just flopping around back there. Unfortunately the velcro would show when the top is down.
